Here is a list of the homicides reported this year in the Kansas City area. It includes the names of the victims and when and where they died. The list will be updated throughout the year, and the most recent homicides are at the top.
The Kansas City Star includes fatal police shootings in this list, which may cause the total number for a city to differ from that kept by a police department. Some of the homicides on the list may be judged by authorities as justifiable homicide.

182. Chayne Pearl, 27, on Dec. 31
Officers found Pearl about 10 p.m. Dec. 31 near Interstate 435 and Truman Road as they responded to a cutting call. She died Jan. 1. Police are investigating her death as a 2020 homicide. At first, police wrongly called the homicide the first of 2021.
181. Abdulbasid Yassin, 19, on Dec. 28
Officers found Yassin unresponsive on the ground when they responded to a shooting call after 8 p.m. near Prospect Avenue and East 8th Street. He died of his injuries Jan. 1 at a hospital. Police are investigating his death as a 2020 killing.
180. Bryce Pulliam, 30, on Dec. 18
Police responded to the 1700 block of Kansas Avenue just before midnight, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
178. Roy Bausby, 21, and 179. Gabriel Freeman, 20, on Dec. 16
Officers were called just before 11 a.m. to the Canyon Creek Apartments at 93rd East Street and Bales Avenue, where they found a man and woman shot to death.
177. Deron E. Bandy, 21, on Dec. 13
Officers were called just after 5 p.m. to the 9800 block of Cambridge Avenue after several residents heard gunfire during an outside disturbance. They found a man shot to death inside a vehicle. Police were searching for a vehicle of interest.
176. Elizabeth Miles, 22, on Dec. 6
Officers were called before 6 p.m. to a home in the 11300 block of Ditman Avenue, where they found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. She died at the scene. A person of interest was in custody.
175. Devonta Dunson, 25, on Dec. 4
A victim was found in a burned car at East 10th Street and Winner Road. Firefighters responded about 6:15 a.m. to the vehicle fire. Police were called to the scene at 2:15 p.m. after the body was found inside the car. Police were trying to identify the victim.
174. Martez Z. Brock, 34, on Nov. 27
Police found Brock’s body about 6 p.m. in the area of East 37th Street and Agnes Avenue after responding to a call about a “suspicious party.” He suffered injuries that were consistent with foul play, police said.
173. Paul Long, 33, on Nov. 26
Police responding to reports of gunfire shortly before 11 p.m. near 79th Street and Troost Avenue found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
172. Dominic A. Jones, 42, on Nov. 26
Police responded to 16th Street and Topping Avenue around 4 a.m. Thanksgiving Day on a reported shooting where they found one man on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
171. Daveion Hill, 24, on Nov. 25
Officers responded to the 6600 block of Monroe Avenue around 5 p.m. to a reported shots fired call where they found the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite life saving measures.
170. Heath Morgan, 43, on Nov. 20
Police responded to the 5700 block of Indiana Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. after the victim called 911, said he had been shot and gave the name of the man who shot him. A 28-year-old Kansas City man was later charged in the victim’s death.
169. Logan Shank, 19, on Nov. 18
Officers responded to a reported shooting about 11:15 p.m. at the Timber Lakes Apartment Homes in the 11300 block of Montgall Avenue. Witnesses directed arriving officers inside an apartment in the complex where they found the male shooting victim.
168. Michelle Capell, 36, on Nov. 16
Officers were called around 11:15 p.m. to a shooting in the 2400 block of Independence Avenue where they found two shooting victims on a sidewalk. The male was taken to a hospital and the female was declared dead at the scene.
167. Raymond Douglas, 31, on Nov. 9
Police responded to a reported shooting shortly before 3 a.m. at the Rendezvous Lounge at 11816 Blue Ridge Blvd. The victim, 31-year-old Raymond Douglas, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
166. Theodore Stallings, 59, on Nov. 8
A man was found fatally shot on a sidewalk outside of a home before 7 a.m. in the 5600 block of Euclid Avenue. He suffered from gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
165. Rodolfo Ibarra, 39, on Nov. 7
Police were called to East 12th Street and Cleveland Avenue around 7 p.m. on an emergency medical services call. Officers found the victim unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death was later declared a homicide.
163, 164. Unknown man and woman on Nov. 6
A shooting in the West Bottoms after midnight that left two people dead and several others injured in the 1500 block of West 12th Street. One of the victims died at the scene, another died at a hospital. Police said it was unclear how many additional victims there were, but it was initially believed three people had injuries that were not life-threatening.
162. Daniel R. Atkison, 35, Nov. 5
A man was fatally stabbed about 1 p.m. in the 3700 block of Gardner Avenue in northeast Kansas City. He later died at a hospital. One person was taken into police custody the same day.
161. Joseph Mangol, 22, on Nov. 1
Officers were called to a shooting just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Independence and Monroe avenues. There they found a man who had been fatally shot near the sidewalk.
160. Ennice Ross Jr., 26, on Oct. 23
Kansas City police officers fatally shot Ross, a homicide suspect, in an exchange of gunfire following a traffic stop about 12:30 p.m. near Admiral Boulevard and Virginia Avenue just east of downtown.
159. Shermaine Taylor, 47, on Oct. 21
A woman leaving for work about 7 a.m. found a body in a “pretty dark, secluded alleyway” near East 66th Street and The Paseo. She called police, who determined the male victim had been shot.
158. Cristobal Gutierrez-Castillas, 44, on Oct. 19
Police responded shortly after noon to a report of a shooting in the 4400 block of Tracy Avenue. Gutierrez-Castillas was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
157. Rickey Arrington, 35, on Oct. 19
Officers responded to a shooting about 11 a.m. at McDonald’s, 11001 Hickman Mills Drive, and found Arrington, who had been shot, inside a car. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
156. Raidel Chavez, 44, on Oct. 15
Officers responded to the shooting about 10:45 p.m. at a home in the 5200 block of Norledge Avenue where they found a male and female gunshot victims. The male victim died at a hospital. The female victim’s injuries were not life threatening.
155. Patrick Sanders, 22, on Oct. 15
Police responded to a shooting just before 8 p.m. at the Stonegate Meadows apartments in the 10400 block of East 42nd Street. Officers found a man in the hallway suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
154. Ronnie Lawrence, 62, on Oct. 12
A body in an advanced state of decomposition was found about 7 p.m. in a wooded area in the 7400 block of East 79th Street. The body had been exposed to the elements for a while and significant trauma was evident, police said.
153. Frank Richardson, 26, on Oct. 12
Officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 6 a.m. in the 2900 block of East 30th Street, near 30th and Walrond Avenue and found Richardson dead from apparent gunshot wounds
152. Maije Benson, 22, on Oct. 3
Officers were called to a home at 12th and Olive streets around 11 a.m. Benson was found bleeding profusely in the home and was pronounced dead at the scene.
151. Terrel Henderson, 31, on Sept. 29
Officers were called to a shooting just before 7 p.m. at a Dollar Tree in the 1600 block of East 63rd Street where a man was shot during a disturbance. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
150. Keva Hill, 34, on Sept. 24
Officers were called at 4 a.m. to a home in the 5900 block of Agnes Avenue where they found a woman who had been fatally shot. A man is in custody after calling police around the same time to say he wanted to turn himself in.
149. Tyron Payton, 1, on Sept. 21
Tyron was killed in a triple shooting in the 2900 block of East 33rd Street. He was in the backseat of a car that was stopped near a residence when at least one person fired at what appeared to be close range. His parents were wounded in the gunfire.
148. Jalen M. Davis, 19, on Sept. 18
Davis was found shot to death outside a vehicle shortly after 2 a.m. after a caller asked police to check out a suspicious car in front of a Kansas City home.
147. Daisy S. Martinez, 20, on Sept. 16.
Multiple shots were fired from a vehicle shortly before 11 p.m. into a crowd of “dozens if not hundreds” of people who had gathered in the 2600 block of Southwest Boulevard. The gunfire struck two women, injuring one, killing the other.
146. Anthony Strassle, 16, on Sept. 16
A driver pulled into the parking lot of the QuikTrip in the 6800 block of East Truman Road and flagged down an off-duty officer working there. The driver said his passenger,16-year-old Anthony Strassle, had been shot. Strassle was rushed to a hospital where he died.
145. Unknown person on Sept. 14
Officers were called around 3 p.m. to a vacant house in the 3600 block of East Gregory Boulevard where they found a body in an advanced stage of decomposition. Though the cause of death is unknown, the circumstances around the death were suspicious, police said.
144. Roget Davis, 36, on Sept. 10
A man was found shot to death about 11 p.m. at a home near 67th Street and Brooklyn Avenue after allegedly threatening a relative with a gun during an argument. The person he allegedly threatened picked up a gun and shot the man.
143. Linda Nelson, 61, on Sept. 7
A woman was found dead just after 6:30 p.m. inside a Kansas City apartment in the 3700 block of East Meyer Boulevard when officers responded on a welfare check. It was determined the victim had been shot multiple times.

A man was found about 4:45 p.m. inside a home in the 2100 block of Northeast Parvin Road in Kansas City, North, after police responded on an unknown medical call. Detectives determined victim had been stabbed.
141. Christopher M. Mansaw, 20, on Sept. 3
A man died from gunshot injuries on Sept. 3, two days after he arrived at a fire station in the 6000 block of Red Bridge Road with injuries. Earlier that day, police responded to a shooting near Blue Ridge Boulevard and Holiday Drive.
139. Raymond Trimble, 29, and 140. Emonnie Nunez, 18, on Sept. 3
Police were called around 7:20 a.m. to the area near 25th Street and Jackson Avenue. A man and woman were found shot to death inside a car.
138. Shawndele Gray, 35, on Sept. 3
Police responded about 12:15 a.m. to a shooting and found a wounded man inside a burning vehicle at U.S. 71/Bruce R. Watkins Drive and the on-ramp of 75th Street. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
137. Tara D. Price, 32, on Aug. 31
Officers responded about 3:45 a.m. to a home in the 5400 block of Swope Parkway on a report of a shooting. A caller met officers at the home and said that someone had been shot inside. Police found an unresponsive woman inside with a gunshot wound.
136. Andrew Dickie, 35, on Aug. 30
A man was fatally shot in the garage of a home about 5:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of The Paseo. Prior to the shooting, two men got out of a vehicle and had a short interaction with the victim.
135. Patrick J. Hicks, 41, on Aug. 27
Officers were called about 8 p.m. to the 4600 block of Prospect Avenue on a shooting where they found Hicks inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital a short time later.
133. Jahmiere Green, 18, and 134. Brandon Rainey, 22, on Aug. 25
Two men were found in a vehicle near Guinotte and North Montgall avenues, police said. Officers responded to reports of gunshots and the shooting around 8 p.m. The men were declared dead at the scene.
132. Lawrence Jordan, 65, on Aug. 23
Officers were called just before 9 p.m. to East 27th Street and Benton Boulevard on a “cutting.” There, police found an injured male in front of a closed businesses, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.
131. Jazmyn Henrion, 23, on Aug. 23
Two shooting victims arrived at a hospital about 3:30 a.m. in a private car with two or three other people, police said. The people in the car reported they were in the area of 68th Street and Cleveland Avenue when the shooting occurred. One of the victims, a woman, has died.
130. Sage Walston, 22, on Aug. 20
A man found covered in blood just before 3 a.m. lying in the street at Linwood Boulevard and Elmwood Avenue was first thought to be a victim of a hit-and-run crash, but his injuries turned out to be “more suspicious.” Police later said he had been shot.
129. Montez Blake, 58, on Aug. 13
Officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 1:15 a.m. to the area of Independence Avenue and The Paseo where witnesses directed them to a nearby field. They found an unresponsive male victim who had been shot.
128. Unknown on Aug. 10
Police were called to the 5800 block of Prospect on a report of a possible dead body in a backyard. The victim was in an advanced state of decomposition.
127. Maxwell Hill, 19, on Aug. 9
Officers responded to the shooting before 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Tony Aguirre Community Center in the 2000 block of West Pennway Terrace. Witnesses told police there was an altercation in the parking lot before shots were fired and the man collapsed. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.
126. Stacey Bell, 56, on Aug. 9
Officers were called at 5 p.m. to the 8100 block of Ward Parkway Plaza, two blocks east of Ward Parkway, for an unknown medical call. Inside the home, officers found a woman in her 50s who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police detained one individual at the scene. The cause of the woman’s death is not yet clear.
125. Jason T. Smith, 19, on Aug. 9
A man was fatally shot just before 5 p.m. inside a vehicle in the 6800 block of Zoo Drive, in a parking lot of the Kansas City Zoo. The man died at the hospital.
124. Derrick Davis, 28, on Aug. 9
A man in his 20s was fatally shot just before 7:30 a.m. inside a home in the 3700 block of Benton Boulevard, police said. He was declared dead at the scene.
122. Arlin Jones, 67, and 123. Kenneth Hanan, 59, on Aug. 8
Officers responded to East 47th Terrace and Sterling Avenue at 6 p.m. Saturday after gunshots were reported. When officers arrived, they were flagged down by a few people nearby and then directed to the backyard of a home where they found two unresponsive men with gunshot wounds. The two men were declared dead at the scene.
121. Michael W. Brown, 33, on Aug. 4
Officers responded to a shooting shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the 5600 block of East 12th Street, near the corner of 12th and Lawndale Avenue. Brown died a few days later at the hospital from his injuries.
120. Henry Hampton, 34, on Aug. 4
Officers were called just before 6:30 a.m. to Alcazar Apartments in the 100 block of West 39th Street to investigate a dead body, police said. There they found an unresponsive man in the stairwell. He was declared dead at the scene.
119. Antony D. Taylor, 26, on Aug. 3
Police responded to reports of two vehicles firing shots at each other. One of the vehicles crashed into a building at Swope Parkway and Benton Blvd. The man was found deceased inside the vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.
118. Briana Johnson, 25, on Aug. 2
A woman was found dead from a shooting reported around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Gregory Boulevard and Bales Avenue.
117. Deon Paige, 24, on Aug. 1
Police were summoned to the 3900 block of Wyandotte Avenue just after 10 p.m. to investigate a shooting. Arriving officers locate a man dead from fatal gunshot wounds.
116. Larry Dickerson, 63, on July 31
Officers were called to a disturbance at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Linwood. Dickerson, who had been stabbed, was transported to a hospital in critical condition and died on Aug. 2.
115. Shawn Ricks, 30, on July 26
Police were called just after 1:30 a.m. to the 3400 block of Indiana Avenue on a shooting. There, they found an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds.
114. Kyle Lager, 38, on July 26
Officers were called to a disturbance just after 12:30 a.m. in the 10500 block of North Walnut Street in the Northland where they found a man who had been injured in a physical confrontation. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. One person was taken into custody.
113. Chieynne Wallis, 21, on July 24
Officers were called to a shooting at the Cloverleaf Apartments just before 7 a.m. They found an injured woman who later died at a hospital.
112. Lodiller Styles, 35, on July 22
Officers were called just before 7 p.m. to the the intersection of E. 40th Street and Tracy Avenue where they found an unresponsive man suffering from gunshot wounds in the middle of the street, police said. He was declared dead at the scene.
111. Diamon Eichelburger, 20, on July 20
Eichelburger, who was pushing a baby in a stroller, was fatally shot in the 2700 block of Van Brunt Boulevard. She was killed by gunfire that came from an unknown vehicle, police said. The baby was not injured.
110. Jayvon McCray, 28, on July 19
A man was shot and killed just before 3 p.m. after an altercation with another person at a gas station near East 85th Street and Woodland Avenue, according to police.
109. Lewis Davis, 57, on July 19
Officers responded to an assault about 1:20 a.m. near East 40th Street and Jackson Avenue where they found Lewis Davis with fatal injuries next to a car. Witnesses told police the man was killed during an attempted robbery.
108. Sylvester Simms, 29, on July 18
Officers responded to a shooting call around 5:45 p.m. at an apartment building in the 3500 block of Independence Avenue. Police found an unresponsive man on the porch. He was declared dead at the scene.
107. Marquice Amos, 15, on July 17
Police responded shortly after 1 a.m. on reports of a shooting near East 60th Street and Forest Avenue. The male victim was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
106. Desimund E. Star, 50, on July 13
A caller heard gunshots and saw a victim in the street near 8th and Prospect Avenue. Police found Star unresponsive. He was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later.
105. Billie Blanton, 40, on July 10
Police launched a death investigation after two bodies were discovered inside of a residence in the 2000 block of Prospect Avenue. Police later determined it to be a murder-suicide, but as of July 13 said it was too early to determine the suspect from the victim.
104. Michael A. Park, 24, on July 5
Police responded to a shooting about 10:45 p.m. in the 6200 block of East 16th Terrace. There they found Park suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
103. Charles Hampton, 37, on July 4
Police were called about 11:45 p.m. to a shooting at 69th Street and Prospect Avenue where they found a man unresponsive on the sidewalk near Prospect Avenue and Gregory Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Later, at a hospital, police found two men in car who had been shot. Police said they think the men were injured in the same shooting.
102. Pierre C. Hill-Williams on July 2
Officers were called at 10:07 p.m. to the Conoco gas station at 35th and Prospect Avenue where they found a man who was shot in the parking lot. Hill-Williams was declared dead at the scene. Kansas City, Kansas, resident Nerville Awuh was charged with murder.
101. Ky Johnson, 31, on July 2
A man suspected of shooting a Kansas City police officer near a McDonald’s at 31st Street and Van Brunt Boulevard died after he was shot by another officer, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe. The shooting started just before 5 p.m., when officers said they chased the suspect on foot, and he opened fire, shooting an officer in the head and leaving him critically injured.
100. Sharon M. Heifner-Douglas, 45, on July 1
Officers responded to a call around 7:45 p.m. in the area of Bennington Avenue and East Red Bridge Road and found Douglas fatally shot on a road in south Kansas City. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
99. Darren E. Marshall, 28, on July 1
Witnesses directed police between two houses near Chestnut Avenue and East 27th Street, where they found Marshall unresponsive on the ground. Marshall later died at the scene.
98. Valentino Heard, 33, on July 1
Police reported to the 10000 block of E. 43rd Street just before 12:50 p.m., where they said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man died after he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
97. Quindell Burrell, 25, on June 30
Officers were called about 8 p.m. to the 11200 block of Eastern Avenue on a reported shooting. They found a man lying on the ground near East 113th Terrace and Ruskin Way. The apparent shooting victim was unresponsive. He was later declared dead at the scene. Witnesses told police a verbal argument preceded the shooting.
96. LeGend Taliferro, 4, on June 29
A 4-year-old boy was shot about 2:30 a.m. while sleeping in an apartment in the 1600 Block of Bushman Road, near East 63rd Street and The Paseo. LeGend was driven to the hospital by a family member where he later died.
95. Ira L. Smith, 36, on June 26
A man was found dead in an apartment in the 2600 block of Benton Boulevard after a maintenance employee for the apartment found the man inside unresponsive and called for help. The case was ruled suspicious in nature and is being investigated as a homicide.
94. Clyde Harris, 19, on June 24
Police were called to investigate a shooting just before 5 p.m. outside a home at 45th Street and The Paseo. A man was found on the front porch, suffering from gunshot wounds. Harris was taken to a hospital, where he died.
93. Romello Shipman, 22, on June 23
Shipman was found dead outside a home in the 1500 block of East 83rd Street after police were called around 2:20 a.m. due to the sound of gunshots.
92. Paul Garcia, 50, on June 22
About 5:15 p.m., callers told police a man inside a residence at 16th and Elmwood was struck by gunshots that came from outside the home. Garcia was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later.
91. Jamie Williams, 48, on June 22
Before 10 a.m., Kansas City police were called to a residence in the 9400 block of N.E. 91st Street because of a disturbance between a man and a woman followed by gunshots. They later found Williams and her husband, Damone WIlliams, dead in the home after Damone Williams allegedly killed Jamie Williams before shooting himself.
90. Dejon Bommon, 23, on June 22
One man was killed and another was hospitalized in a shooting about 12:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of Benton Plaza. Witnesses told police there was a disagreement before the shooting. The man killed was found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.
89. Marcus Stone, 22, on June 21
One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting about 1:45 a.m. near 18th and Vine streets. Police found Stone on the ground in a nearby parking lot where he had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Stone’s family said he was leaving a party when shots rang out, and he was struck.
88. Deveon Edwards, 17, on June 17
Police responded to a reported shooting where one person was killed and two others were injured near the intersection of East 27th Street and Jackson Avenue.
87. Tawanna Jordon, 37, on June 15
Police responded to a homicide at 26th and Denver. Further details were not available.
86. Hoang Dinh, 51, on June 15
Police responding to a call about a person with an unknown medical condition shortly before 2 a.m. found a man dead in street in the 3600 block of Thompson Avenue with a head injury. Federal agents with Operation LeGend assisted in the arrest of Antoine Cotton, 42, who was charged with second-degree murder.
85. William Slyter, on June 13
A Kansas City police officer shot and killed a man near 23rd Street and Lister Avenue. The man was suspected of a carjacking and “presented some type of handgun,” according to the Missouri Highway Patrol, which was investigating the shooting. He was later identified as William Slyter, born in 1998.
84. Trinton Phillips, 21, on June 8
Officers were called to a reported shooting outside Price Chopper at 9717 N. Ash Ave. just before 5:30 p.m. Phillips, who had been shot, was found in the parking lot. He died at the scene. Police believe he was killed in an attempted robbery.
83. Matthew Cox, 19, on June 7
A man was shot during a robbery about 6:50 a.m. in the 4100 block of Troost Avenue, police said. Officers found the man in a parking lot outside an apartment complex. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. One person has been arrested and charged.
82. Montel Ridley, 27, on June 6
Police responded to 18th and Vine streets and the Truman Medical Center just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday after several shooting victims arrived at the hospital. An adult man died from his injuries. Four other victims, three men and one woman, were in stable condition.
81. Mikilos Guinn Jr., 22, on June 5
Officers on a nearby call heard multiple gunshots near Meyer Boulevard and Swope Parkway just after 10 p.m. and found a man inside a vehicle who appeared to have been shot.
80. Trevieance Ivey, 21, on June 3
Officers were called just after 3 a.m. to the area of Bannister Road and Newton Avenue after a dog walker found a man’s body in the grass. Police believe the man died of gunshot wounds.
79. Emmit Martin, 33, on June 2
Officers responded to a shots fired call about 10:45 p.m. in the 3400 block of Independence Avenue where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
78. Ivory Harris, 63, on June 1
Police responded to a shooting just before 2 p.m. at East 12th Street and Brooklyn Avenue. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument.
77. Clarence A. Lyons, 16, on June 1
Police responded to a shooting shortly before 1:15 p.m. at West 31st Street and Broadway Boulevard. A 16-year-old boy found shot in a vehicle had been taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead. Police didn’t immediately know where and when the teen was shot.

Francois was fatally shot about 11 p.m. near Warwick Boulevard and East 46th Street, about two block from where demonstrators protested police killings, racism and other issues following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. Police believe Francois, who was picking his son up from the protest, was killed in a robbery.

Kansas City police where called to a shooting about 7 p.m. in the 8800 block of Crystal Lane. Witnesses told police the shooter and the victim got into an argument before the suspect pulled out a gun and fatally shot Ford.
74. Destiny Smith, 20, on May 30
Officers were called to 10th and Summit streets around 3:30 a.m. on reports of gunshots. Officers found three shooting victims, including Smith, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman and a man were brought to the hospital with critical injuries.

Before 7:30 p.m., officers were called to 18th Street and Prospect Avenue, and found a person who had been stabbed outside a store. The victim died at the scene. A person of interest was taken into custody.

Martin was found shot on a sidewalk in the area of Leeds Trafficway and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard around 9:15 p.m. May 24. The victim, who had gunshot wounds to the chest and leg, was taken to a hospital. He died on June 10. Police had no suspect information.

Police discovered a crime scene about 1 a.m. outside a convenience store at Hardesty and Independence avenues after gunfire was exchanged between occupants in two vehicles. Vallardo was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Police found a woman shot in a vehicle about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the 3300 block of Agnes Avenue. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died the following day.

A triple shooting shortly after 1:30 a.m. left two men dead and one woman with life-threatening injuries during an argument at the Willow Creek apartment complex in the 9900 block of Walnut Drive.

Genson was shot and killed around 10 p.m. in the 5300 block of N.E. 57th Street when at least one person approached a house and fired shots at it from the outside. One person was arrested and charged.

The victims were killed in shootings that occurred minutes apart. The first shooting was reported around 2:45 a.m. at the Quick Shop, 5401 Winner Road. The second shooting was reported about 10 minutes later at the Greenleaf Apartments in the 5300 block of Williamsburg Court. One person was arrested and charged in connection to both shootings.

Police responded to a shooting in the 8000 block of Michigan. Strother was found inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. She was hospitalized in critical condition and died May 6. One person was arrested and charged.

Police were called to the 2300 block of Van Brunt Boulevard about 7:15 a.m. for a triple shooting. Rodgers was killed and two others, Tolbert and a juvenile male, were hospitalized. Tolbert died on May 6.

Police were called to the Timberline apartments in the 600 block of N.E. 38th Street around 8:40 p.m. in reference to a shooting. In the parking lot, officers found Butler, who had been shot.

Davis was found fatally shot in the parking lot of apartments in the 8300 block of Hillcrest Road shortly after 12:30 a.m.

Haskell was found fatally shot in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store in the 8200 block of Troost Avenue around 1:30 p.m. No arrests have been announced.

Police responded to a shooting call just after 10 p.m. at a house in the 3700 block of East Seventh Street. Arriving officers found a woman, who had been shot multiple times. Her husband was arrested and charged in connection to her death.

Witnesses told police Green was beaten with a shovel and repeatedly struck by a car in the area of East 30th and York streets around 7:20 p.m. The driver of the car also allegedly assaulted a woman. The driver was later arrested and charged.

Before midnight, police were called to the area of 117th Terrace and Food Lane on a reported shooting. A few blocks from the scene, officers located a victim who had been shot.

Police responded about 3 a.m. Easter Sunday on a reported shooting at 39th and Main streets. Arriving officers found Washington inside a vehicle and were told the shooting occurred more than two miles away at 40th Street and Agnes Avenue. One person has been charged.

Just before 3:30 p.m., officers responded to what was reported as a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at Blue Valley Park. Court records state the victim was stabbed and intentionally run down by the driver. One person has been arrested and charged.

Police responded around 1 a.m. to an apartment building in the 8000 block of Campbell on reports of a shooting inside one of the units. The victim died inside an apartment. One person has been arrested and charged.

Police were called to a shooting in the 9400 block of East 39th Street around 5 p.m. on April 1. Witnesses told them a man was transported to the hospital after being shot. He died from his injuries the next day. One person has been arrested and charged.

A man was found shot in front of a residence just before 11:30 a.m. at 43rd and Askew. EMS responded and declared him dead at the scene.

Around 7:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a medical call at a residential construction site in the 7300 block of N.E. 46th Terrace. A man was found unresponsive and declared dead at the scene. One person has been arrested and charged.

The fatal shooting occurred just before midnight in the 4200 block of Prospect Avenue. Witnesses told police that a person entered the home and got involved in a disturbance with the victim. The person then shot the victim and left.

Police found the victim deceased after responding to an apartment in the 1500 block of Northeast Vivion Road. Weeks after finding the woman, police declared her death as a homicide.

Just after 11 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 5500 block of East 101st Terrace for a shooting, and they found a person with a gunshot wound. The victim later died at a hospital. One person was taken into custody for questioning.

Officers were called about 7 a.m. to a home in the 2700 block of Park Avenue and found Weyer, who had been shot, police later confirmed. She was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police responded to a shooting about 4 a.m. to the northbound lanes of Interstate 49 near Red Bridge Road where they found Witherspoon outside of a vehicle on the side of the highway who had been shot and killed.

A Kansas City police officer shot Sanders following an attempted traffic stop just after 11:15 p.m. in the area of 51st Street and Wabash Avenue. Sanders later died at the hospital. Police earlier stated the Sanders raised his arm “in a motion towards the officer as though he had a weapon.” A police investigation showed later that the man was not armed with any weapon.

Police responded about 4:45 a.m. to the 14500 block of U.S. 71 highway after a caller reported a dead body inside an apartment. Police found a man dead. Shelton’s death could have occurred before Tuesday.

Officers responded about 8:45 p.m. to the 400 block of Spruce Avenue where they found a man in front of a home who had been shot. He died at a hospital.

Officers responded just after 9:30 p.m. to a shooting at East 24th Street and Chelsea Avenue, where they found a man who had been shot. Witnesses told police someone in a white vehicle shot and killed him before fleeing the scene.

Officers responded about 2 a.m. to a shooting at East 10th Street and Brooklyn Avenue, where they found a man who had been shot on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two officers were in the parking lot at 6200 Independence Avenue when they heard 3 to 4 gunshots from the Hardee’s across the street. Delgado was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. On March 7, police were notified that Delgado had died.

Officers responded to a shooting before 4:30 p.m. outside the Xpress Mart near East Ninth Street and Prospect Avenue, where they found an unresponsive man. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.

Harris was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting at Westport Road and Mill Street near the entertainment district just before 1:30 a.m. Police said someone was shooting out of an SUV traveling on Mill Street. Just before 6:30 a.m., police were called to a shooting in an alley just east of the 900 block of south 11th Street. There they found a teen with a gunshot wound who was declared dead at the scene. 31. Armando Villa-Rosales, 16, on July 20
Police responded to the 1400 block of Kansas Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on July 19 to a reported shooting. Armando Villa-Rosales was traveling west on Kansas Avenue in his car when gunfire from another vehicle heading east struck him. He died of his injuries on July 20. A minor passenger in Villa-Rosales’ car was not injured.
30. Christopher Marcus Ingram, 43, on July 19
A shooting was reported shortly after 10 a.m. at a house in the 7200 block of Lathrop Avenue. Police said two men were at the home working in the driveway and inside the open garage when they were approached by a man dressed in dark clothes. The man shot at them and then fled in a vehicle. One of the men at the home was hit by the bullets and later died at the hospital.

Jansen’s father, Howard Jansen III and his girlfriend, Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick, were charged with felony murder, aggravated endangering a child and criminal desecration after the girl’s remains were found in a wooded area in the 3400 block of Steele Road just hours after she was reported missing.

A 15-year-old girl was taken to the hospital by private vehicle about 1:50 a.m. where she immediately underwent surgery for life-threatening gunshots wounds. She died shortly after. Police believe shots were fired into a vehicle she was in near South Boeke Street and Osage Avenue; at least one bullet struck her.

Police were called to a shooting about 9:20 p.m. in the 4800 Block of Wood Avenue where they found a man in his 40s with gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police responded to the 4800 block of Richmond Avenue to a reported shooting just after 4:30 p.m. The victim, a 31-year-old man, died at a hospital. The suspect, who ran from the scene, was later arrested.

Robinson, an Overland Park resident, died from his injuries after being shot May 27 in the 4700 block of State Avenue. Charges are pending against a suspect, who was taken into custody.

A 17-year-old victim died from his injuries following a triple shooting. The deceased and two other victims, who had minor injuries, were found at a local hospital after officers had been called to the scene in the 1200 block of Argentine Boulevard before 2 a.m. May 24.

Officers were called about 12:55 a.m. to a shooting in the 2600 block of Delavan Avenue, where they found a young man with a gunshot wound. Carr was declared dead at the scene.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 11:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Metropolitan Avenue. Abarca, who had been shot, was rushed to a hospital, where he died from the injuries.

Officers were called to investigate a report of shots fired just before 11:20 a.m. at a home in the area of North 18th Street and Walker Avenue. Police found a man who had been shot. One person has been arrested and charged.
12. Terrell Maxwell, 19, on April 21
Officers responded about 1:30 a.m. to investigate a report of a death in the 600 block of South 71st Terrace. Arriving officers found Maxwell, who had been shot.
11. Bernard Matlock, 72, on March 31
Police responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Central Avenue and found Matlock on the sidewalk. He was transported to an area hospital where he died on April 5. Two suspects were taken into custody.
10. Kassandra Martz, 29, on March 25
Officers responding to conduct a welfare check at a home in the 100 block of South Eighth Street about 4 p.m. found the bodies of Kassandra Martz and Samuel Martz, 32. Police have not said how they died.
9. Tommie Collins, 19, on March 24
Collins was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting just before 10 p.m. in the 1300 block of Ray Avenue, police said.
7, 8. Julian Ponce-Frank and Abdu Wana, both 19, on March 2
Police responded to a reported shooting in an apartment complex parking lot in the 1000 block of Forest Court and found two men with gunshot wounds who had died. Officers responded to the scene around 10 p.m.
6. Erick Reynaldo Rangel-Mendoza, 22, on Feb. 21
Police responded to a shooting in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Central Avenue. Rangel-Mendoza was found shot inside of his car. He was transported to an area hospital where he died.

4. Kenyatta Walker, 41, on Feb. 1
A preliminary investigation suggested that an occupant at a home in the 1900 block of Minnesota Avenue shot and killed a male in an alleged burglary, police said. Officers responded to the scene about 1:05 a.m.
3. LaRon Tyrell Briggs, 25, on Jan. 28
Briggs was shot and killed inside a Pizza Hut restaurant after 10:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Rainbow Boulevard. Two people have been charged with murder and attempted robber in connection to the shooting.
2. Emilio Lopez, 18, on Jan. 24
Police were called about 7:30 p.m. to the 8000 block of Greeley Avenue in reference to a shooting. Officers found Lopez, who died at the scene.
1. Luis Fernand Deras-Orellana, 21, on Jan. 5
Police responded to the 3000 block of North 34th Street, where officers found Deras-Orellana with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at a local hospital.
Independence
11. Oriana Raisa N-Chelle Ashhanti Starr, 22, on Dec. 16
Officers responded about 6 p.m. Dec. 17 to an apartment building in the 9900 block of East 36th Street about a possible homicide that occurred on the day before. They found the victim’s body. She had been shot.
10. Kent “Bo” Mcintosh, 50, on Dec. 6
Independence officers had responded at about 3:22 p.m. to a shooting in the 3300 block of South Oxford Avenue where they found a man with gunshot wounds in the driveway of a home.
9. Female victim, 37, on Sept. 19
Officers were called about 3:40 a.m. to 13th Street and Brookside Avenue where they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound in a grassy area near the road.
8. Kimah McDonald, 44, on Aug. 16
Officers were called about 9:40 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in the 2600 block of South Arlington Avenue, where police found McDonald, of Independence, with a gunshot wound. She was declared dead at the scene.
7. Shonay M. Persinger, 24, on July 13
Officers responded to the shooting about 10:50 p.m. in the 9300 block of East 16th Street and found that one person had been shot. Persinger, of Kansas City, Missouri, was declared deceased at the site of the shooting.
6. SirJohn Harris, 17, on July 27
Independence police responded to a reported shooting at a 7-Eleven convenience store at 12333 E. U.S. 40 Highway. An officer found Harris lying on the ground near a dumpster. Korey C. Matlock, 18, and Sean M. Matlock, 20, were charged with second degree murder, attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action in the July 27 shooting.
5. Matthew Bland-Williams, 26, on July 23
Officers responding to a reported shooting found two people with life-threatening injuries about 6:25 p.m. in the 18800 block of East Wigwam Place. One of the victims died at the hospital. The other victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
4. Juan Hernandez, 40, on June 1
After 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 23rd Street and Crysler Avenue regarding a shooting. It was determined that a shooting had occurred in the parking lot of the CVS at 1315 W. 23rd St. South. A male victim went inside the store, where he died. One person has been arrested and charged.
3. Camry A. Alonzo, 22, on May 26
Officers found Alonzo fatally shot inside her bathroom at her apartment in the 700 block of North Jennings Road around 11:22 a.m. after conducting a welfare check. Her boyfriend surrendered himself to police and was charged in the case.
2. Nikolas Lampton on April 3
A man was found dead after a reported shooting about 1 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Sundown Drive. One person was arrested and charged.
1. Jose G. Gotay, 37, on March 22
Gotay was stabbed during a disturbance reported just before 5:40 p.m. in the 2900 block of Hawthorne Avenue, police said. The victim died from his wounds at a hospital.
Overland Park
4, 5. Phillip Michael Carney, 38, and Officer Michael Mosher, 37, on May 3
Carney and Mosher were both killed in a shootout in the 8300 block of West 123rd Street. Mosher, a 14 1/2-year veteran of the Overland Park Police Department, had sent a message by police radio about a hit-and-run crash near West 123rd Street and Antioch Road. Mosher approached the suspect’s vehicle and an altercation occurred. The two exchanged gunfire, police said.
3. Micah Babick, 29, on April 8
Officers were called to a shooting in the 9800 block of West 87th Street just before 9 p.m. They found Babick’s body in a parking lot near a library. Police say the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. One person has been arrested and charged.
2. Patrick A. Miller, 18, on Jan. 25
Police were called about 7:31 p.m. to a shooting in the 7800 block of Marty Street. Police found a teenager with a gunshot wound. The victim died at a hospital.
1. Layne R. Mays, 22, on Jan. 14
Police were called to a home in the 5500 block of West 148th Terrace about 1:38 p.m. after Mays’ body was found. An autopsy showed she died from manual strangulation, though she had also suffered deep lacerations, an affidavit said. One person was arrested and charged.
Olathe
2. Lawrence D. Flaxbeard, 41, on July 13
Police were called to a disturbance in the 15900 block of West 127th Street. Flaxbeard was found near an apartment door with an apparent gunshot wound and died at the scene.
1. Jessica L. Smith, 42, on July 5
Police responded to a burglary in the 800 block of North Hamilton Street. They found Smith dead inside the residence. The killer had apparently fled before officers arrived, police said. Clyde James Barnes Jr. was later charged with premeditated first degree murder, aggravated burglary, unlawful tampering with electronic monitoring, criminal threat and violation of a protection order related to Smith’s killing.
Gladstone
1. Evan Franklin, 27, on Jan. 23
Franklin, a Kansas City resident, was critically injured in a shooting, which was reported about 8:40 p.m. Jan. 23 in the parking lot of Crown Heights 64 Apartments in the area of N.E. 64th Street and North Oak Trafficway. Franklin died from the injuries Jan. 24.
Belton
1. Kyle Wanner, 28, on April 16
Officers were called around 10:45 a.m. to the Show Me Auto Mall at 1421 E. North Ave. in reference to a shooting. They found Wanner, who had been fatally shot. One man was taken into custody at scene. One person was arrested and charged.
Grandview
3. Matthew A. Hill Jr., 19, on Dec. 13
Police were called to a shooting just after 12:30 p.m. in the 132nd block of Winchester Avenue where they found Hill suffering from gunshot wounds. Alexis Denise-Marie Fisher, 21, was charged with second-degree murder after she told police she shot Hill during a drug deal.
2. Keyon Martis, 20, on July 19
Officers responded to reports of shots being fired about 10:30 p.m. at the Briarwood Apartments complex in the 6100 block of East 126th Street. Arriving officers found two men — brothers who lived at the apartment complex — who had been shot. The younger brother died at the hospital.
1. Alexuas Acord, 21, on April 17
Officers responded to a shooting call around 3:10 a.m. in the 13100 block of 15th Street. Inside a vehicle, police found a 21-year-old woman who had been fatally shot.
Raytown
3. Lucas Jester, 19, on Aug. 10
Lucas Jester, 19, was found dead inside a vehicle about 9:20 p.m. Monday when officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of the 8400 block of Lane Drive, according to the Raytown Police Department.
2. Unidentified male teenager, on June 30
A teenager was fatally shot about 8:30 p.m. outside a smoke shop at the Raytown Plaza shopping center near East 63rd Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard, Raytown police said. Two other people were injured and hospitalized.
1. Willie J. Hampton, 37, on April 18
Hampton, a Kansas City resident, was fatally shot by a Raytown police officer about 8:10 p.m. just inside the Walmart at 10300 E. 350 Highway. The highway patrol, which is investigating the shooting, said Hampton pointed a gun in a “threatening manner” at the checkout area and the officer, who was working security, fired his weapon, striking Hampton.
Blue Springs
1. Wayne Tindell, 65, on April 19
Officers with the Blue Springs Police Department responded about 2 p.m. to a Walmart parking lot on a report of a dead body. Tindell was found with a gunshot wound to the head. One person has been arrested and charged.
Prairie Village
1. Kiven Maquial, 18, on May 5
Maquial’s body was found just before 6:20 a.m. in the 3500 block of Somerset Drive. Police said he had a gunshot wound. Four people, including three teens, have been charged.
Clay County
1. Jeffery Dale Millsap, 26, on Jan. 2
Millsap, who was suspected of stealing a gun from a Liberty sporting goods store and shooting a car salesman in Independence, was shot and killed by a Clay County sheriff’s deputy after a pursuit just after noon. The chase ended in the 19800 block of N.E. 172nd Street, where Millsap was shot. The Missouri Highway Patrol was investigating.
Claycomo
1. Unknown victim on Dec. 2
Officers responded to a shooting about 2:20 a.m. near East Park Avenue and Randolph Road. One person was killed. Hours later, police said they were searching for a suspect in his late teens or early 20s.
Smithville
1. Shannon L. Tate, 48, on Dec. 10
Officers responded about 10 p.m. to the 100 block of Tipperary Street, where they found a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim died the next day. Lori A. Ackerman, 47, was charged with second-degree murder and and armed criminal action.
Cass County
1. Lorie Lankford, 60, on Feb. 8
Deputies were called to a shooting about 5:15 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 16000 block of South State Route E. Lankford died at the scene. Prosecutors charged her husband, John Bradley Lankford, 56, with first-degree murder.
Jackson County
1. Jason Juszczyk, 36, on May 17
Juszczyk, of Independence, was fatally shot just before 2 a.m. at a gas station at 8301 E. Truman Road, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. One person was arrested and charged.
