Kansas City police investigate Sunday homicide, the city’s 14th killing this year

Kansas City police were investigating a homicide Sunday night after a person was found dead in the 7500 block of Wabash Avenue.

Officers were called about 10:30 p.m. to a reported disturbance in the area, where they found the victim, according to Capt. David Jackson, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

Detectives were interviewing a couple of people who were at the scene when officers arrived, Jackson said.

The victim’s cause of death remained under investigation, police said. The victim has not been identified.

The killing marked Kansas City’s 14th homicide this year, according to data kept by The Star. By this time last year, which ended with 151 killings, there had been nine.
