One man killed in shooting Sunday night in Kansas City, North

Update: Police on Monday said they previously gave the wrong name in identifying the homicide victim. This story has been updated to reflect the new information.

Kansas City police were investigating a shooting death Sunday night in the 6300 block of North London Avenue.

Officers responded to a reported shooting about 9 p.m. and found the victim between two apartment buildings, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

The victim, identified by police Monday as 20-year-old Kirin J. Logan, was declared dead at the scene.

Earlier Monday, police had identified the victim with a different name. That person, police said in an email, was “wrongly identified as the victim in this case. We are sorry for any confusion.”

During their investigation, officers took one person into custody. The death was being investigated as a homicide. Witnesses continued to be interviewed, police said, and the investigation was ongoing.
