Suspicious death investigation underway after woman’s body found inside KC apartment

A woman was found dead inside a Kansas City apartment complex Monday evening, police said.

Officers were called just after 6:30 p.m. Monday to the 3700 block of East Meyer Boulevard on a welfare check, said officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City Police department.

When police arrived at the Parkgate apartments, they found a dead woman inside one of the buildings.

The incident is being investigated as a “suspicious death” because the woman’s injuries are currently unknown, El-Ashkar said.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are gathering information and processing the scene for evidence, she said.

Anyone with information about this death is asked to call the Kansas City Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to an arrest in this case.
