Kansas City woman accused of killing a man with his car, attacking bystander
A Kansas City woman has been accused of running over a man, killing him, and assaulting a bystander with a car on Saturday.
Jackson County prosecutors have charged Sasha A. Waloke, 32, with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action in connection to the attack.
According to charging documents, Kansas City police were called to the area of East 30th and York streets around 7:20 p.m. Saturday in reference to a disturbance outside.
Witnesses pointed to Waloke as a suspect, and officers arrested her at the scene.
Near the intersection, the body of a man was found in the road. He was identified as Larry A. Green, 68.
Witnesses told police Waloke was seen fighting with Green and beating him with a shovel. Waloke then got into a Cadillac XTS car and struck him, they said. Multiple witnesses told police they saw Waloke repeatedly driving over his body.
Some witnesses said they overheard Waloke threatening to kill anyone who called the police. Another said Waloke accused Green of trying to rape her.
A woman told police that Waloke then came after her in the car.
Waloke chased the woman up the street, hit her and continued pursuing her around a home before crashing and coming to a stop, the woman and other witnesses told police.
When officers arrested Waloke, they found her to be in possession of a key fob for the Cadillac car, which was registered to Green.
Police note that Waloke appeared to be impaired and was incoherent at the time of her arrest. She was taken to North Kansas City Hospital to be evaluated.
Waloke was charged Monday and remains in police custody with bond set at $200,000. Public records were not immediately available Monday night showing attorney information for the defendant.
