One man killed in shooting following argument in KC home Friday night, police say

One person is dead and another is in police custody after a shooting that followed an argument in a Kansas City home Friday night, police said.

Officers were called to a home in the 5500 block of East 101st Terrace near Hardesty Road just after 11 p.m., said Kansas City Police Department spokeswoman Officer Doaa El-Ashkar in an email.

When police arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound, he was brought to a hospital where he later died, El-Ashkar said.

Police said they took a person of interest into custody after they were told about an argument that happened before the shooting.

Details about the the person of interest were not immediately available.

Police later identified the victim as Thomas B. Willett, 29.

The shooting is the 38th homicide in Kansas City according to data kept by The Star which includes fatal police shootings. There had been 31 by this time last year.
