Man found dead after shooting at Independence apartment complex Friday afternoon
A man was found dead after a shooting Friday afternoon at an Independence apartment complex, police said.
The shooting was reported about 1 p.m. in the 300 block of Sundown Drive.
Arriving police officers located a deceased man at an apartment complex there. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Police said a person of interest has been taken into custody for questioning. Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
The killing marks the second homicide reported in Independence this year. At this time last year, the city had recorded three homicides, according to data maintained by The Star.
