Two suspects in custody for homicide of 72-year-old man in Kansas City, Kansas

Two suspects have been taken into custody after a 72-year-old man was fatally shot late last month in Kansas City, Kansas, police said Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Bernard Matlock, of Kansas City, Missouri, was shot March 31, according to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers found Matlock on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of Central Avenue. He was transported to an area hospital where he died April 5.

Matlock’s death is the ninth homicide this year in Kansas City, Kansas, according to data maintained by The Star. At this time last year, the city had recorded six homicides.
