Kansas City police find two dead inside car parked near 25th Street and Jackson Avenue
Kansas City police are investigating a double homicide after a man and a woman were found shot to death Thursday morning inside a car near 25th Street and Jackson Avenue, police said.
Officers were called to the area about 7:20 am to investigate a suspicious car and occupant, said police spokesman Sgt. Jacob Becchina.
The caller reported seeing a vehicle that the caller didn’t recognize with someone inside.
Arriving officers found a sedan parked on 25th Street between Jackson and Spruce avenues. They walked up to the car to see if the people inside needed help and immediately recognized that the two people inside appeared to have been shot, Becchina said.
Both victims were deceased, Becchina said. Emergency medical crews responded and confirmed they were dead.
They were later identified as 29-year-old Raymond Trimble and 18-year-old Emonnie Nunez.
Homicide detectives were trying to determine if the victims live in the area as well as what led up to the killings. Investigators and crime scene technicians were at the scene gathering evidence and looking for possible witnesses.
It was unknown if they owned the car, described as a dark colored, four-door sedan.
The killings are the 137th and 138th homicides of the year in Kansas City, according to data kept by The Star, which includes police shootings. By this time in 2019, the city had 105 homicides.
Across the entire Kansas City metro area, there have been 197 homicides so far this year.
