One dead in overnight Northland shooting, Kansas City police report

One person was fatally shot late Friday in the Northland, according to Kansas City police.

Police were called to a reported shooting just before 10 p.m. Friday in the 5300 block of NE 57th Street, Kansas City Police Capt. David Jackson said in an email.

Police found a homicide victim inside the home, Jackson said. The victim’s identity had not been released as of Saturday morning.

At least one person approached the house from the outside and fired shots into it, police said, citing their initial investigation.

Some of the victim’s roommates were present when police arrived, Jackson said. One had a minor injury, but refused treatment.
