Police investigate homicide after man is found shot early Monday in Kansas City

Police were investigating the death of a man who was found unresponsive early Monday near a home in Kansas City.

Officers responding to a reported disturbance just after 1 a.m. found the man near a home in the 2700 block of Benton Boulevard, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

The man was treated with first aid and then taken to a hospital, where he died.

Detectives canvassed the area looking for witnesses while crime scene investigators collected evidence..

Later on Monday, police said the man had been shot. Investigators had not yet identified him. His death was being investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information about the man’s death was asked to call the police department’s homicide unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). Any information leading to an arrest could result in a reward of up to $25,000.
