Two men found shot in backyard of KC home on Saturday evening, Kansas City police say
Two men were shot and killed Saturday evening near East 47th Terrace and Sterling Avenue, Kansas City police said.
Officers were called to the scene at 6 p.m. Saturday after gunshots were reported, Kansas City Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jake Becchina said.
When officers arrived, they were flagged down by a few people nearby and then directed to the backyard of a home where they found two unresponsive men with gunshot wounds.
The men were given aid, but were declared dead at the scene, Becchina said.
Detectives were canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses. Detectives were also working to learn who owns the home where the men were found.
“Detectives will be working through who owns that residence, who lives there, if these people, the two victims, are residents there or are known to the residents at all,” Becchina said.
No suspect information was available.
Anyone with information can call the Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
Gun violence will be the subject of a new, statewide journalism project The Star is undertaking in Missouri this year in partnership with the national service program Report for America and sponsored in part by Missouri Foundation for Health.
