Update: As of July 13, Kansas City police said they are investigating the case as a murder-suicide but added it was too early to determine who was the suspect and who was the victim.

Kansas City police have launched a death investigation after the two bodies were discovered inside of a residence in the 2000 block of Prospect Avenue.

Officers were sent to the residence around 4 p.m. after a woman called police and said that her parents had not been seen for several days. The women went to the residence and found the two dead bodies in an advanced stage of decomposition, police said in an email.

Police have not been able to identify them and are investigating their deaths as suspicious.

No other details were released.
