Kansas City police investigate fatal stabbing Sunday, the 18th homicide this year
Detectives were investigating a fatal stabbing Sunday night in Kansas City, according to police.
The victim was identified as Christopher Quntin, 44. Officers responded after 8 p.m. to the 4900 block of East 31st Street for a cutting call, where they found Quntin who appeared to have been stabbed, according to Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.
Quntin was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.
Detectives believe the stabbing occurred outside of a home. They canvassed the scene in search of any witnesses.
It remained unclear what led up to the stabbing. There was no suspect information.

The killing marked Kansas City’s 18th this year, according to data kept by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. There had been nine homicides by this time last year.
The homicide came after the deadliest January in at least the last decade in Kansas City. Last month, 23 people were slain in 31 days across the metro area.
