Police investigating homicide after man is found shot in Kansas City, Kansas
Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found mortally wounded in a Kansas City, Kansas, neighborhood late Thursday, police said in a release.
Officers found the victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound while responding to reports of a shooting shortly after 10 p.m. near North 62nd Street and Nebraska Avenue, Officer Tom Tomasic, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department, said in the release.
The victim, who was later identified as 16-year-old Jose Manning, was rushed to a hospital where he later died of his injury, Tomasic said.
Officers took two persons of interest into custody, he said.
The homicide is Kansas City, Kansas, 29th of the year. By this time last year, the city had 16 homicides.
Across the entire metro area, there has been 174 homicides so far this year.
The fatal shooting remains under investigation by the department’s Major Case Unit. Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
