Monday morning shooting leaves one dead, another injured in Kansas City
One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting early Monday in Kansas City.
Police were called to a shooting about 12:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of Benton Plaza. They found two men with gunshot wounds, Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a Kansas City police spokeswoman, said in an email.
One man, who was found on the street, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The second victim was also taken to a hospital, police said. His injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.
Witnesses told police there was a disagreement before the shooting.
A suspect was last seen leaving the area in a dark sedan, witnesses also told police.
The investigation is ongoing.
Monday’s killing was the 89th homicide in Kansas City this year, according to data kept by The Star that includes fatal police shootings. There had been 63 homicides in Kansas City by this time last year.
On Sunday, at least seven people were shot in Kansas City, including one man killed in the historic 18th and Vine district.
An award up to $25,000 is available for information leading to an arrest in any homicide investigation, police said.
