Police investigate deadly shooting of man in Kansas City, Kansas

Police are investigating a homicide after a male victim was found shot to death Thursday evening in Kansas City, Kansas, police said.

Police responded to a reported shooting shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of Barnett Avenue. Arriving officers found a male shooting victim who died from a gunshot wound, police said.

No suspect information was available.

The victim’s death is the 20th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, this year, according to statistics tracked by The Star. That compares to 10 homicides reported in the city by this time last year.

Across the entire Kansas City metro area, there have been 116 homicides so far this year.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the homicide and requested anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
