Jackson County sheriff investigates early morning homicide at gas station

A man was fatally injured early Sunday at a gas station, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement was called to a crime scene just before 2 a.m. Sunday to a gas station at 8301 E. Truman Road, Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté tweeted.

A 36-year-old man died at the hospital, Forté said, later identifying the victim as Jason Juszczyk, of Independence.

Forté said the man was a homicide victim, and that the gas station owner said he was a regular customer.

The sheriff’s office tweeted a series of photos of persons of interest in the case. They are asking anyone with information about the homicide to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Kansas City police said the sheriff’s office is investigating the crime, which police said happened in unincorporated Jackson County.
