Woman charged in man’s shooting death outside KCPD station. Three kids were in the car

A 27-year-old woman has been charged in Jackson County Circuit Court in the late February shooting death of a man outside the Kansas City Police Department’s Central Patrol station.

Deshonia S. Diamond, 27, faces charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action and a misdemeanor charge of failing to report a shooting in the Feb. 28 killing of Devon Nolan, 34, prosecutors announced Friday.

Diamond is being held on a $100,000 bond.

A witness told police, according to the news release, that Nolan and Diamond met in the parking lot of the police station to exchange children. After the exchange, Nolan pulled his vehicle next to Diamond’s and got out of his vehicle. That’s when Diamond allegedly shot him.

Police heard screams from inside Nolan’s vehicle and found three uninjured children.

Officers found Nolan stumbling toward the police station at 1200 E. Linwood Blvd. He told officers that Diamond shot him with a pink gun and described the vehicle she left in.

Using a search warrant, police found a pink and black gun at an apartment associated with Diamond. Police also examined her phone, finding texts and a recorded conversation that showed she had earlier threatened to kill Nolan.

He died at a hospital.

No attorney was listed for Diamond in online court records. A bond reduction and initial arraignment hearing are scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m.
