Victim dies at hospital after overnight shooting in Kansas City near 60th, Forest Ave

Kansas City police are investigating the city’s latest homicide after a male victim from an overnight shooting died at a hospital Friday morning, police said.
Officers responded to the shooting just after 1 a.m. near East 60th Street and Forest Avenue, said Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
Arriving officers found a male victim who had been shot. Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Becchina said in an email.
The victim, however, later died from his injuries. No suspect information was available.
This is Kansas City’s 106th homicide of the year, according to data maintained by The Star which includes policeshootings. That compares to 77 homicides reported by this time in 2019.
Across the Kansas City metropolitan area, there have been 153 reported this year.
