KC police launch homicide investigation after person fatally shot following argument

Kansas City police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday evening in the 8800 block of Crystal Lane that left one person dead.

Officers were summoned to an apartment about 7 p.m. to investigate a shots fired disturbance call. Arriving officers found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was later pronounced dead.

Officers spoke to two witnesses who said the victim got into an argument with another person. That person pulled out a gun and shot the victim, according to initial police reports.

The shooter fled in an unknown direction. Police did not release a description of the shooter but detectives were working to identify a person of interest.

Police have not said if the victim was a male or female. They have not said what prompted the argument.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). A $25,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
