Man shot by FBI agent at Midtown Kansas City apartment is dead, agency says
The FBI on Thursday identified a man shot and killed by an agent at a Kansas City apartment complex, saying the shooting occurred as a task force served an arrest warrant.
The shooting was reported just before 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Alcazar apartment building at 3906 Baltimore.
The man killed in the shooting, 35-year-old David William Irving, was shot in the apartment complex, FBI spokesman Dixon Land said in a news release. Land did not say whether Irving died at the scene.
No law enforcement officers or other members of the public were injured, Land said.
The FBI’s inspection division, based in Washington D.C., is investigating the shooting.
The FBI did not describe the details of the arrest warrant or how the shooting occurred.
Draque Drako, the owner of a barbershop across the street from the apartment building said he heard several gunshots after watching police enter the building.
“Then all of a sudden, 30 police just started swarming from everywhere,” Drako said to reporters following the shooting.
He said the Alcazar building tenants have been known in the neighborhood to cause problems including fights and drug sales.
