A man was found shot and killed Sunday in a residential Kansas City neighborhood, the city’s first homicide of 2020, according to police.
Officers responded to the shooting about 12:21 p.m. in the 4900 block of Walrond Avenue, where they found 41-year-old Earl Finch dead in a driveway, according to Capt. Tim Hernandez, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.
Finch suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Hernandez said.
No suspect information was immediately available.
Police asked anyone with information about the killing to call the homicide unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
The killing comes days after Kansas City ended 2019 with 151 homicides, which neared its record of 155 homicides set just two years earlier, according to data kept by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. By this date last year, three people had fallen victim to homicide.
