Man found shot in vehicle that crashed into building; KC police investigate homicide

Kansas City police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot inside a vehicle that had crashed into a building.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of gunshots near 46th and Benton Blvd. Witnesses said two vehicles were firing shots at each other, said Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman with the Kansas City Police Department.

At the same time, police were dispatched to Swope Parkway and Benton after a vehicle crashed into a building.

The vehicle matched the description of one of the cars from the initial call.

The crash caused significant structural damage.

Emergency crews determined there was a man who was deceased inside the vehicle, but it took several hours to safely remove the vehicle from the crash site, Becchina said. The victim was later identified as Antony D. Taylor, 26.

The vehicle was removed about 9 p.m. and the driver was deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

If anyone was in the area or has information, they may call detectives at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
