Teen dies after early-morning shooting Saturday in south Kansas City, police say

A teen who was critically injured during an early-morning shooting Saturday in south Kansas City has died, according to police.

The incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Kansas City police said earlier Saturday, just before 2 a.m., officers were called to the 8400 block of East 109th Terrace in reference to a shooting.

Arriving officers found the victim, who was lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was later identified as Bobby J. Wallace, 18.

The teen was taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as life-threatening.

Police were notified later that he died.

The investigation into the shooting was ongoing Saturday evening. No arrests have been announced, and police had no suspect information.

The killing is the eighth homicide reported in the city this year, according to data kept by The Star. At this time last year, Kansas City had recorded six homicides.
