KC Police investigate homicide two days after shooting victim dies from injuries

A man died Thursday morning, two days after arriving at a Kansas City fire station suffering from gunshot wounds.

In an email Thursday, Kansas City Police Department spokeswoman Doaa El-Ashkar said the shooting, which occurred on Tuesday, is now being investigated as a homicide.

According to the email police were called to Blue Ridge Boulevard and Holiday Drive just after 3 p.m. because of a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found shell casings, a pistol and blood. Witnesses, police said, stated that multiple people were fighting when shooting started.

Later that day, police said, a person arrived at a fire station in the 6000 block of East Red Bridge Road with multiple gunshot wounds. The person was transported to the hospital and died Thursday.

Police later identified the victim as 20-year-old Christopher M. Mansaw.

The shooting is Kansas City’s 139th homicide this year according to data kept by The Star which includes fatal police shootings. There had been 105 homicides by this time last year.
