Kansas City man charged in Sunday morning shooting that left one dead

A Kansas City man has been charged in a shooting that left a man dead Sunday morning, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office said Monday.

Shimari Frierson, 24, was charged with second-degree murder, attempted burglary and armed criminal action.

Kansas City police responded to an apartment in the 8000 block of Campbell Avenue where they found a man with no signs of life.

Monrico Roseberry, 35, was declared dead.

Charging documents allege a man told Frierson that his sister had been awarded $60,000.

Three people went to the apartment to steal the money.

A witness told police that Frierson planned the robbery, drove them to the scene and was present when the shooting occurred.

Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond.
