Kansas City police investigate after apartment maintenance found a man dead in a unit

A man was found dead in an apartment in the 2600 block of Benton Boulevard on Friday evening, Kansas City police said.

Officers responded just before 7:30 p.m. Friday after a maintenance employee for the apartment found the man inside unresponsive and called for help.

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide because of the “suspicious nature of the scene,” Kansas City police spokesman Sgt. Jake Becchina said in a release.

Investigators are also looking for witnesses.

Anyone with information can contact the Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
