Kansas City police investigate fatal shooting at 8th and Prospect Avenue
Kansas City police investigated a homicide reported Monday near 8th and Prospect Avenue.
A caller heard gunshots and saw a victim in the street, said Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
Officers responded just before 9:15 p.m. and found an unresponsive man.
He was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later.
The victim was later identified as 50-year-old Desimund E. Star.
There was no suspect information, Becchina said.
This is the 105th homicide in Kansas City this year. At this time last year, 76 homicides had been reported, according to data maintained by The Star.
