One dead, another hospitalized in shooting Saturday night in Kansas City

One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting late Saturday in Kansas City, police said.

Officers were called to a shooting around 11 p.m. in the area of East 53rd Terrace and Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City Police Capt. David Jackson said in an email.

Police found a homicide victim at the scene. A second shooting victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Jackson said.

No suspects were in custody as of Saturday night, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

The victim of Friday night’s shooting is the 62nd homicide victim in Kansas City this year, according to data kept by The Star.
