Kansas City area restaurant, brewery, coffee shops: April openings, coming soon
Here’s our monthly update of Kansas City area restaurant, coffee shop and brewery openings and what will be coming soon.
Many openings have been pushed back due to staffing issues and, as one new restaurant chain entering the metro put it, “because construction is a little funky right now” due to supply chain issues.
An Irish restaurant closed in the Power & Light District, but a new one opened in East Brookside. Johnson County got a Whataburger, and the River Market has a new brewery. Plate restaurant opened in Leawood. Dozens of eateries, coffee shops and breweries are in the works.

▪ Prime Pizzeria, 1501 Grand Blvd. No opening date was available.
▪ Red Door Woodfired Grill, the Streets of West Pryor, 2061 N.W. Lowenstein Drive, Lee’s Summit. Plans to open Tuesday.
▪ Savory Spice Shop, 323 Southwest Blvd. Relocating from Brookside for a mid-April opening.
▪ 7 Brew Coffee, multiple locations including Blue Springs, Independence, the Northland, Lee’s Summit, and Overland Park. No opening dates were available.
▪ Spokes Coffee Cafe Cyclery, 2460 Pershing office building. By May 1.
▪ Station 7, 9418 S. Missouri 7, near Lake Lotawana. Scheduled to open April 18.
▪ Summersalt Ice Cream Co., Ranch Mart North, 3808 W. 95th St., Leawood. Early May.
▪ Tin Roof, 424 Westport Road. Hopes to open this month.
▪ Tuna Louise, 651 E. 59th St. No opening date was available.
▪ Unforked, Woodside Village, 4719 Rainbow Blvd., Westwood. Planned to open April 4 but in late March it posted a notice on Facebook, “small staffing and equipment challenges” were pushing back the opening.
▪ Urban Egg, Hawthorne Plaza, 4921 W. 119th St., Overland Park. April 25.
▪ Whataburger. Locations at 905 Missouri 7, Blue Springs, and 10780 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas, just north of the Legends Outlets Kansas City, are scheduled to open in the spring.
▪ Zephyr Kitchen & Bourbon Bar, Marriott Kansas City Overland Park, 10800 Metcalf Ave. Overland Park. May opening.

▪ Chick N Max is looking for area franchisees. It had hoped to have a location in early 2022 but is still in talks with local developers.
▪ Chicken Salad Chick plans a summer opening in Lee’s Summit.
▪ City Club Apartments, 1989 Main St. Chef Howard Hanna plans to open two operations — Afi natural wine bar and Small Axe modern diner — on the first floor of the apartments. August or September openings.
▪ Cold Stone Creamery and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Ward Parkway Center, 8600 Ward Parkway. Spring or summer 2022.
▪ Dave’s Hot Chicken: A new franchisee plans 10 area locations with the first opening by the end of the year.
▪ Dunkin Donuts, 17701 E. 39th St., Independence. No opening date was available.
▪ Dutch Bros Coffee, 1733 E. North Ave., Belton, and 11311 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee, for spring openings. A location also is planned for the northwest corner of Kansas 10 and Ridgeview Road in Lenexa but no opening date was available.

▪ Fareway Meat Market, 13430 W. 151st St., Olathe, for a June opening, and in the Valley View Shoppes, Missouri 152 and North Shoal Creek Valley Drive near Liberty, for fall.

▪ Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken plans more area restaurants in 2023.
▪ The Halal Guys: New area franchisee has signed one location in the Liberty area and is still looking in midtown, Westport and other areas in the metro.
▪ Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, Metro North Crossing, U.S. 169 and Barry Road. No opening date was available.
▪ IHOP, 11111 W. 95th St. Overland Park, for. September, and 2909 Burlington St., North Kansas City, for the fall.
▪ Jet’s Pizza, Michigan-based chain plans to open Kansas City area locations.
▪ Johnny Kaw’s Outback, 4124 Pennsylvania Ave. 2023 opening.
▪ Johnny’s Tavern, 716 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore. Hopes to open by the end of the year.
▪ Joy Wok Super Buffet Hibachi Sushi, relocating to 12631 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park (from 11920 Metcalf), for a May opening. It will open a new location at 8406 Wornall Road in September.
▪ La Fuente Mexican Restaurant and La Fuente Mexican Street Food: Two new buildings on Missouri 291 near Liberty for mid-2022 openings.
▪ LongHorn Steakhouse, 9770 N.W. Prairie View Road. Late summer or early fall.
▪ Meddy’s Mediterranean Eatery & Craft Bar, Corinth Quarter, 4105 W. 83rd St., Prairie Village. Late summer opening.
▪ Meshuggah Bagels, Valley View Shoppes, Missouri 152 and Booth Avenue. Late fall opening.
▪ Messenger Coffee Co. and Ibis Bakery, Prairiefire, 135th Street and Nall Avenue, Overland Park. Fourth quarter 2022 opening.
▪ Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food, 7006 W. 75th St., Overland Park, late May or early June opening. Locations at 806 N.W. Missouri 7, Blue Springs; 1316 W. Kansas St., Liberty; and at 119th Street and South Strang Line Road in Olathe, are planned for the first half of 2022.

▪ PT’s Coffee Roasting Co., 8139 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. Plans are still on hold.
▪ Puttery, 4641 Jefferson St., indoor, high-tech mini golf course with bars and lounge areas. No opening date was announced.
▪ Scooter’s Coffee, 10301 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, with a drive-thru. July opening.
▪ Serv, entertainment complex, 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park. Food operators, bar, coffee kiosk, pickleball and more. Fall opening.
▪ Stockyards Brewing Co., 10310 Mastin St., Overland Park. No opening date was available.
▪ Taco Bell, 7601 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. Second quarter 2022 opening. Another one is in the works for 15881 Metcalf, along with a Scooter’s Coffee shop.
▪ Taylor’s Donuts, 1827 Louisiana St., Lawrence. June or July opening.
▪ 39th Street Brewery, 1320 W. 39th St. No opening date was available.
▪ Tiki Taco, 5400 Troost Ave., June opening.
▪ Ting’s Filipino Bistro, 1803 W. 39th St. Repairs to the space have pushed the opening date back to summer.
▪ Transport Brewery, 131 E. Main St., Gardner. Fall opening.
▪ Twin Peaks, 8660 N. Boardwalk Ave. June opening.
▪ Vine Street Brewing, 18th & Vine Jazz District. June or July.
▪ Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, 207 N.E. Englewood Road. Hy-Vee will convert its grocery store into its new liquor store concept which will carry specialty food products and high-end barware. No opening date was available.
▪ Whataburger: 11300 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, for summer; 1921 W.
