Capital One said its cafes are designed to “support your financial — and your everyday — well-being.”

Now one is coming to the Country Club Plaza this fall. It will take the former Sur La Table spot at 430 Nichols Road.

Capital One Cafes have a full-service coffee and tea bar, locally baked treats, sweet and savory snacks, and prepared food items.

They also have free Wi-Fi, access to charging stations and semi-private nooks. They are open to the public, but the bank’s customers get 50% off on handcrafted beverages.

Other services include ATMs, bank employees on-site to answer questions about opening a checking or savings account, and workshops on building savings, checking credit reports or making a budget. They also have a community room that can be booked by nonprofits, alumni groups and student clubs.

Capital One opened its first cafe in 2021 and currently has more than 50 cafes nationwide, including one in Minnesota’s Mall of America.

Sur La Table closed on the Plaza in mid-2020 as part of a national downsizing.
