Kansas City P&L District just lost a sushi restaurant. But it’s getting another one

Blue Sushi Sake Grill is coming to Kansas City’s Power & Light District.

The chain is taking a 5,247-square-foot corner space at 101 E. 14th St. It will open later this year.

Bar Louie had formerly operated in the spot but closed in early 2020.

The Omaha-based Blue Sushi has 16 locations in 10 states, including one that opened in Westwood in 2016.

The Westwood menu includes maki, sashimi and nigiri, along with such items as coconut crab soup, lettuce wraps, mango crab Rangoons, miso soup, and the brand’s signature Tuna Tower. It also has gluten-free and vegan items.

Earlier this month, Drunken Fish closed its Power & Light District location nearby at 14 E. 14th St. It had operated there for more than a decade.

In a statement, the owner, Munsok So, said he decided not to renew his lease because “the rent got too expensive.”
