Fareway Meat Market opens soon in Johnson County. Next: Northland, near Whataburger
Iowa-based Fareway Stores Inc. is expanding with another Kansas City area location.
The grocery store chain plans a late fall opening for the 8,700-square-foot Fareway Meat Market at Missouri 152 and North Shoal Creek Valley Drive near Liberty. Whataburger is also opening in the Valley View Shoppes.
The store will have a meat counter, seafood, artisan cheeses, to-go meals and other grocery items. An attached Wine & Spirits store will sell “quality wine, top shelf spirits, craft beer and other unique selections.”
Prepared foods and catering will also be offered under the McGonigle’s name, similar to services at the south Kansas City store.
Fareway purchased mainstay McGonigle’s Market at West 79th Street and Ward Parkway in early 2020 and converted it to the Fareway Meat Market brand in March of that year.
It also is opening a 7,400-square-foot store at 13430 W. 151st St. in Olathe in June.
