Kansas City’s Ragazza restaurant to expand with Sicilian/Greek bistro in City Market
Laura Norris, owner of Kansas City Italian favorite Ragazza Food & Wine, is expanding.
Norris is teaming up with her brother (and manager of Ragazza), Grant Norris, to open Enzo in the City Market.
The bistro and wine bar is taking the former Bo Lings Chinese Restaurant space at 20 E. Fifth St., Suite 100. After a renovation, starting in January, it is scheduled to open in April.
The sister/brother team said the name came from their favorite restaurant, da Enzo, in the Trastevere district in Rome.
It will feature mostly Sicilian and Greek dishes — from small plates to entrees — including seasonal salads, roasted lamb, tzatziki, meatballs and swordfish.
“We will be serving dishes from the caper capital of the world, so there will be capers,” Laura said. “We’re about 85% Italian wines now, so we will expand that with more French and Spanish wines.”
Her background is in historic renovation, so she was looking in the City Market before the pandemic. But most of the available spaces were too small.
Then Bo Lings decided to relocate nearby, and the 3,891-square-foot space opened up.
Enzo will be open for lunch and dinner.
“The nighttime vibe is evolving and growing there — with Brown & Loe, the KC Taco place,” she said. “It’s getting more lively so it will be fun to be part of that evolution.”
