Kansas City area restaurant, brewery, coffee shops: March openings, coming soon

Here’s our monthly update of restaurant, coffee shop and brewery openings and what will be coming soon.

Among the openings is a new brewery in the River Market, a Thai barbecue in Overland Park, a Latin American coffee shop on the city’s West Side and the metro’s first Taco Bell Cantina, which opened in Westport.

▪ Slideshow Sliders, Parlor food hall, 1707 Locust St. Soft opening with the grand opening March 12.

▪ Brady & Fox, East Brookside, 751 E. 63rd St. Hopes to open for limited service on March 12 for the Brookside St. Patrick’s Warm-Up Parade.

▪ Cafe Cà Phê, 916 E. Fifth St. No opening date was available.

▪ Cafe Europa, 4960 Main St. for a late March opening or early April, and 4343 W. 119th St., Leawood, in late April or early May.

▪ Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, 800 N.E. Coronado Drive, Blue Springs. Scheduled to open Monday.

▪ Kimchi and Bap, Lenexa Public Market, 8750 Penrose Lane, Lenexa. Weekend pop-up opens March 10.

▪ Marco’s Pizza, 7472 Nieman Road, Shawnee. March 11 opening scheduled.

▪ Moonshine Mule, 115 E. Gregory Blvd. April opening scheduled.

▪ Plate, Park Place, 11655 Ash St., Leawood. Plans to open by March 15.

▪ Red Door Woodfired Grill, the Streets of West Pryor, 2061 N.W. Lowenstein Drive, Lee’s Summit. Mid-April opening.

▪ River Bluff Brewing, 201 Main St. Saturday grand opening.

▪ 7 Brew Coffee, multiple locations including Blue Springs, Independence, the Northland, Lee’s Summit, and Overland Park. No opening dates were available.

▪ Sinkers Lounge, Power & Light District, 53 W. 13th St. Mid-to-late March.

▪ The Snack Shack, 6018 Johnson Drive, Mission. Early April.

▪ Spokes Coffee Cafe Cyclery, 2460 Pershing office building. April 18 opening scheduled.

▪ Station 7, 9418 S. Missouri 7, near Lake Lotawana. Late March.

▪ Starbucks plans to reopen in Oak Park Mall, 11149 W. 95th St., Overland Park, later this month. It temporarily closed about a year ago.

▪ Summersalt Ice Cream Co., Ranch Mart North, 3808 W. 95th St., Leawood. Early April.

▪ Tall Trellis Brew Co., 25600 W. Valley Parkway, Olathe. Hopes to open soon.

▪ Taste Restaurant Bar and Lounge, 3959 Broadway Blvd. Plans soft opening on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.

▪ Tin Roof, 424 Westport Road. Hopes to open before spring.

▪ Ting’s Filipino Bistro, 1803 W.39th St. Late April.

▪ Tuna Louise, 651 E. 59th St. No opening date was available.

▪ Unforked, Woodside Village, 4719 Rainbow Blvd., Westwood. Soon.

▪ Urban Egg, Hawthorne Plaza, 4921 W. 119th St., Overland Park. Mid-April opening.

▪ Whataburger, 8420 W. 135th St. Overland Park, opens Monday. Locations at 905 Missouri 7, Blue Springs, and 10780 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas, just north of the Legends Outlets Kansas City, are scheduled to open in the spring.

▪ Chick N Max is looking for area franchisees. It had hoped to have a location in early 2022 but is still in talks with local developers.

▪ Chicken Salad Chick plans summer opening in Lee’s Summit.

▪ City Club Apartments, 1989 Main St. Chef Howard Hanna plans to open two operations — Afi natural wine bar and Small Axe modern diner — on the first floor of the apartments. Spring openings.

▪ Cold Stone Creamery and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Ward Parkway Center, 8600 Ward Parkway. Spring or summer 2022.

▪ Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken plans more area restaurants in 2023.

▪ The Halal Guys: New area franchisee has signed one location in the Liberty area and is still looking in midtown, Westport and other areas in the metro.

▪ Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, Metro North Crossing, U.S. 169 and Barry Road. No opening date was available.

▪ IHOP, 11111 W. 95th St. Overland Park. September opening.

▪ Johnny Kaw’s Outback, 4124 Pennsylvania Ave. 2023 opening.

▪ Johnny’s Tavern, 716 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore. Hopes to open by the end of the year.

▪ Joy Wok Super Buffet Hibachi Sushi, relocating to 12631 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park (from 11920 Metcalf), for a May opening. It will open a new location at 8406 Wornall Road in September.

▪ La Fuente Mexican Restaurant and La Fuente Mexican Street Food: Two new buildings on Missouri 291 near Liberty for mid-2022 openings.

▪ LongHorn Steakhouse, 9770 N.W. Prairie View Road. No opening date was available.

▪ Meddy’s Mediterranean Eatery & Craft Bar, Corinth Quarter, 4105 W. 83rd St., Prairie Village. Summer opening.

▪ Meshuggah Bagels, Valley View Shoppes, Missouri 152 and Booth Avenue. Late fall opening.

▪ Messenger Coffee Co. and Ibis Bakery, Prairiefire, 135th Street and Nall Avenue, Overland Park. Fourth quarter 2022 opening.

▪ Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food, 7006 W. 75th St., Overland Park, April opening. Locations at 806 N.W. Missouri 7, Blue Springs; 1316 W. Kansas St., Liberty; and at 119th Street and South Strang Line Road in Olathe, are planned for the first half of 2022.

▪ Popeyes, 9460 Quivira Road, Lenexa, and 6235 Nieman Road. No opening dates were available.

▪ PT’s Coffee Roasting Co., 8139 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. Plans are still on hold.

▪ Serv, entertainment complex, 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park. Food operators, bar, coffee kiosk, pickleball and more. Fall opening.

▪ Stockyards Brewing Co., 10310 Mastin St., Overland Park. No opening date was available.

▪ Taco Bell, 7601 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. Second quarter 2022 opening. Another one is in the works for 15881 Metcalf, along with a Scooter’s Coffee shop.

▪ 39th Street Brewery, 1320 W. 39th St. No opening date was available.

▪ Tiki Taco, 5400 Troost Ave., June opening.

▪ Transport Brewery, 131 E. Main St., Gardner. 2022 opening.

▪ Vine Street Brewing, 18th & Vine Jazz District. June or July.

▪ Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, 207 N.E. Englewood Road. Hy-Vee will convert its grocery store into its new liquor store concept which will carry specialty food products and high-end barware. No opening date was available.

▪ Whataburger: 11300 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, for summer; 1921 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore, summer; 95Metcalf, 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, fall; 14123 W. 135th St., Olathe (near Menards), for 2023; 9100 block of Missouri 45, Parkville, for 2023; and the southeast corner Interstate 435 and Bannister Road for fall; and Missouri 152 and North Booth Avenue (near Liberty), for 2023.

▪ Wienerschnitzel wants to return to the Kansas City market.
