Kansas City area restaurant, brewery, coffee shops: March openings, coming soon
Here’s our monthly update of restaurant, coffee shop and brewery openings and what will be coming soon.
Among the openings is a new brewery in the River Market, a Thai barbecue in Overland Park, a Latin American coffee shop on the city’s West Side and the metro’s first Taco Bell Cantina, which opened in Westport.

▪ Johnny Kaw’s Outback, 4124 Pennsylvania Ave. 2023 opening.

▪ Joy Wok Super Buffet Hibachi Sushi, relocating to 12631 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park (from 11920 Metcalf), for a May opening. It will open a new location at 8406 Wornall Road in September.
▪ La Fuente Mexican Restaurant and La Fuente Mexican Street Food: Two new buildings on Missouri 291 near Liberty for mid-2022 openings.
▪ LongHorn Steakhouse, 9770 N.W. Prairie View Road. No opening date was available.
▪ Meddy’s Mediterranean Eatery & Craft Bar, Corinth Quarter, 4105 W. 83rd St., Prairie Village. Summer opening.

▪ Transport Brewery, 131 E. Main St., Gardner. 2022 opening.
▪ Vine Street Brewing, 18th & Vine Jazz District. June or July.
▪ Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits, 207 N.E. Englewood Road. Hy-Vee will convert its grocery store into its new liquor store concept which will carry specialty food products and high-end barware. No opening date was available.
▪ Whataburger: 11300 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, for summer; 1921 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore, summer; 95Metcalf, 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, fall; 14123 W. 135th St., Olathe (near Menards), for 2023; 9100 block of Missouri 45, Parkville, for 2023; and the southeast corner Interstate 435 and Bannister Road for fall; and Missouri 152 and North Booth Avenue (near Liberty), for 2023.
▪ Wienerschnitzel wants to return to the Kansas City market.
