KC-area restaurant, grocery, brewery updates for March: What’s coming, open, closed
Here’s a look at what’s happening in the Kansas City-area restaurant scene in March. Most opening dates are tentative and can be pushed by delays in construction, licensing and other issues. Call before visiting.

▪ Buffalo State Pizza Co. Two Papa Keno’s Pizzeria restaurants — at 1815 Wyandotte St. in the Crossroads and 7901 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park — have changed to the Buffalo State Pizza concept.

▪ ChickHoovenSwine BBQ, Parlor food hall, 1707 Locust St.

▪KC Smoke Burgers, 431 Westport Road, open Friday and Saturday nights with a March 17 grand opening planned.

▪ Moose McGuire’s Pub & Grill, 941 Massachusetts St., Lawrence. It has softly opened with a grand opening planned for this weekend.

Closings
▪ Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, Park Place, 11652 Ash St., Leawood.
▪ Our Daily Nada, River Market, 304 Delaware St.
▪ Papa Keno’s Pizzeria. Two locations have converted to the Buffalo State Pizza Co. brand — 7901 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, and at 1815 Wyandotte St. in the Crossroads.

▪ Atomic Cowboy, Denver Biscuit Co., Fat Sully’s and Frozen Gold, Westport, 4140 Pennsylvania Ave. Early April opening scheduled.
▪ Banksia, 4800 Main St., Suite 103. Late April or early May.
▪ Blackhole Bakery, 5531 Troost Ave. Mid-to-late March.
▪ Boogies Midtown Tavern, 3715 Main St. The bar hopes to open in mid-to-late March.
▪ Brookside Beef Co., 751 E. 63rd St. The founder of Brookside Poultry will relocate the restaurant and open the Brookside Beef sister concept in early April.

▪ BurgerIM, 8021 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, late March or early April. A location at 3680 N.E. Akin Drive, Lee’s Summit, No. 136, is scheduled to open in late spring.
▪ Cellar Door Cafe, 7 W. 11th St., Lawrence. March 21 opening scheduled.
▪ Chick-fil-A, Sonoma Plaza, 87th Street Parkway and Interstate 435 in Lenexa. April opening planned.
▪ Coach’s Bar & Grill, 6700 College Blvd., Overland Park. No opening date was available but the space has been gutted and the signs are up in front.
▪ The Combine, deli, pizza and bar in the Wonder Shops + Flats, 2999 Troost Ave. No opening date was available.
▪ Duck & Roll, 4800 Main St., Suite 102. March 24 opening scheduled.
▪ Evolve Juicery & Kitchen, The Vue, 7201 W. 80th St., Overland Park. Hopes to open March 9.
▪ Fud has a sign up at 10 Main St., Parkville, saying it will be opening soon. The owner did not return emails.
▪ Hawaiian Bros. Island Grill, 304 S.E. Missouri 291, Lee’s Summit. Late May.
▪ Incredible Pizza Co., 13110 W. 62nd Terrace, Shawnee. Grand opening on March 13.
▪ Ixtapa Mexican Cuisine, 7305 W. 95th St., Overland Park, in a former First Watch. Early April.
▪ Lion’s Choice, Waldo, 1621 W. 76th St. It is going through city planning so no opening date was available.
▪ Lost Evenings Brewing Co., 8625 Hauser Court, Lenexa. Late May.
▪ Madison’s Neighborhood Eatery, 915 to 991 W. 44th St. Late April or early May.
▪ Papa Keno’s Pizzeria, 14850 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. Hopes to open in the spring.
▪ Parisi Cafe, The Vue, 7261 W. 80th St., Overland Park. Later this month.
▪ Queen Priscilla’s, 809 W. 39th St. Opening in early March.
▪ Ramsey’s Burgers, (formerly Just Burgers), 13115 Holmes Road (by the owners of the new Martin City Coffee, just to the south). Opening soon.
▪ Red Door Grill, Sonoma Plaza, 87th Street Parkway and Interstate 435 in Lenexa. Summer opening.
▪ Rockcreek Brewing Co., 5880 Beverly Ave., Mission. April opening scheduled.
▪ Seafood Island, 10810 W. 75th St., Shawnee. No opening date was available.
▪ Shack Breakfast & Lunch, 9329 Habringer St., Lenexa. Late March.
▪ Sinkers Lounge, Power & Light District, 53 W. 13th St. By late July.
▪ Tay’s Burger Shack, 7724 W. 151st St., Overland Park. Mid-March opening planned.
▪ Unforked, Woodside Village, 4719 Rainbow Blvd., Westwood. No opening date was available.
▪ West Bottoms Whiskey Co., 1321 W. 13th St. May opening.
▪ The Windmill KC, coffee shop, 840 S. 55th, Kansas City, Kansas. Early April.
▪ Worlds Grocer, 3967 Main St. No opening date was available.
Coming later
▪ Aloha Poke is looking for area franchisees.
▪ Andy’s Frozen Custard plans to open in Liberty in the fall and in Overland Park’s Prairiefire in 2021 or 2022.
▪ B&B Theatres will open one of its Marquee Bar and Grille operations in a new luxury entertainment complex in Twin Creek Village, northeast corner of Missouri 152 and North Platte Purchase Drive. A late 2020 opening is scheduled.
▪ The Big Biscuit, Westport, 4039 Mill St. No opening date was available.
▪ Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant & Bar plans to open in Oak Grove in July.
▪ Bluhawk, 159th Street and Antioch Road in Overland Park. Cactus Grill, Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, and Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers plan spring 2020 openings. Saltgrass Steak House plans a fall 2020 opening.
▪ Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop said it plans three area restaurants. No locations were announced.
▪ Captain D’s, 7525 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Company officials said they plan to reopen there in 2020, after a fire a year ago.
▪ Chicken N Pickle, Prairefire, 135th Street and Nall Avenue, Overland Park. Fall 2020.
▪ The Garrison Cafe powered by The Roasterie, 512 Southwest Blvd. No opening date was available.
▪ Lion’s Choice, 440 N.W. Chipman Road in Lee’s Summit. Mid-summer opening.
▪ LongHorn Steakhouse, 95Metcalf South, at 95th Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park. Late fall.
▪ Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop in Westwood wants to open a Thai rolled ice cream and spirits shop at 1707 W. 47th St., next door to the restaurant. No opening date was available.
▪ Meat Mitch Barbecue, Ranch Mart North, 3600 W. 95th St., Leawood. Hopes to open in late fall.
▪ One North, new development at Interstate 35 and Armour Road, plans an August opening for Starbucks and a fall opening for Flow House.
▪ Pickle Bar + Kitchen, 135th Street and Switzer Road, Overland Park. Winter or spring 2021.
▪ PT’s Coffee Roasting Co., 8139 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. By late 2020.
▪ Punch Bowl Social, 612 W. 47th St. Late 2020.
▪ Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, 13710 Blackbob Road in Olathe. Early fall.
▪ Strawberry Hill Brewing Co., 601 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. It has started brewing and hopes to open its taproom in late spring or early summer.
▪ Taco Hangover, Lenexa City Center, 88th Street and Renner Road, Lenexa, July opening.
▪ Taylor’s Donuts, 1827 Louisiana St., Lawrence. Late spring or early summer.
▪ Tin Roof, 424 Westport Road. Summer opening.
▪ Tom Colicchio’s food hall, Mission Gateway, Johnson Drive and Roeland Drive, Mission. Construction will start on the food hall in the first half of 2020 with staggered openings into 2021.
▪ Transparent Brewing Co., 14501 White Ave., Grandview. Early June opening. Chive Simply Good, a cafe and market, will share the space.
▪ T-Shotz, golf and entertainment complex, Metro North Crossing, U.S. 169 and Northwest Barry Road. Late May opening scheduled.
▪ Verbena. Cafe Provence’s owners plan the new restaurant concept in The Inn at Meadowbrook, 4901 Meadowbrook Parkway, Prairie Village. A spring 2020 opening is scheduled.
▪ Verdigris, Park Place, 5245 W. 116th Place, Leawood. The upscale cocktail bar plans a spring opening.
