It’s almost time for one of Kansas City’s biggest concerts of the year: Chappell Roan’s two-day performance on the grounds of the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

Roan’s shows on Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, aren’t notable just because she’s a Missouri-born pop star who’s had a massive rise in popularity over the past two years, winning Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys.

KC is also one of just three cities where her limited tour, Visions of Damsels and Other Dangerous Things, will come (the others are New York and Los Angeles), so it’s likely to draw in fans from all over the country.

More than 30,000 tickets have been sold for each night, so expect the city to be blanketed in pink this weekend.

Here’s everything fans and Kansas City locals can expect:

Where are Chappell Roan’s concerts?

The concert is calling the venue Museum and Memorial Park, but locals might know it as the area surrounding the Liberty Memorial or Penn Valley Park, near the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

While it doesn’t host that many concerts nowadays (the last was in 2021), it was previously home to two huge music festivals and the site of the NFL Draft FanFest in 2023. In 2026, the World Cup fan experience will be in the same place.

The stage will be to the southeast of the museum, with the crowd and ticketed area stretching to the south. Crews have spent days setting up on the site.

What time will Chappell Roan go on?

We don’t know exactly when Roan will take the stage each night, though it will likely be after 8. At her most recent show, she took the stage at 8:15, according to Setlist.fm.

The show is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. with Roan’s openers. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and show organizers say fans will not be allowed to line up before 2 p.m.

Who are Chappell Roan’s openers in KC?

Roan has various opening acts on her pop-up tour, including local drag performers, indie pop singer-songwriter Japanese Breakfast, singer and rapper Baby Tate, and singer Hemlocke Springs.

In Kansas City, Japanese Breakfast will play on Friday and Baby Tate on Saturday. Local drag performers include Minti Varieties, Jadoré Aimee and Karmella Uchawi.

Can I still get tickets?

All the official tickets from the artist have sold out, distributed through a special system in August intended to avoid scalpers and scammers. General admission tickets went for $129 each.

There are still resale tickets available online, but be careful to avoid scams if you’re going to buy.

What is the concert theme? What should I wear?

Roan designates a theme for many of her concerts to encourage fans to dress up. In KC, the theme is “Pink Pony Club” after the star’s biggest hit.

So expect to see plenty of pink cowboy attire at the show, as well as other Roan-related getup. Note that the venue prohibits costumes that cover the entire face or block the view of guests behind you.

Can you listen to the Chappell Roan concert outside the venue?

Though music will likely be heard outside the fenced-in area of the concert, KC police say they won’t allow crowds to gather in the areas of Penn Valley Park around the show.

Fans should expect fencing, barricades and controlled zones, and the sidewalks and streets must remain clear for travel, spokesperson Sgt. Phil DiMartino said.

Where can I park for Chappell Roan’s KC concerts?

It might not be easy to find a place to park the weekend of the concerts.

n addition to the shows, Oktoberfest is happening at Crown Center all weekend, First Friday the night of the first show in the Crossroads and a bull-riding event at T-Mobile Center all weekend.

But there are still options for parking and other transit. You can park at paid surface lots and parking garages at Crown Center and Union Station, right next to the concert venue, though parking could cost as much as $40 or $45. Or you can find a spot in the downtown area and take the free streetcar to the venue.

If you don’t mind a hilly walk, parking in a residential area could save you money. Neighborhoods like Union Hill, Longfellow, Beacon Hill and the West Side are less than 1 mile away from the venue, and parking is usually free.

What roads will be closed in KC?

Streets directly surrounding the museum property will also be closed beginning on the morning of each show. This includes Kessler Road, Main Street and Memorial Drive. KCPD did not share more details on times or specific locations.

DiMartino says the streets will be “closed intermittently to ensure safe pedestrian traffic at the end of the event.”

Can I take the KC Streetcar to Chappell Roan?

Yes, you’ll be able to take the streetcar for free from downtown or the River Market to the Union Station stop, then it’s just a short walk to the venue. The streetcar even has a special “Pink Pony Club”-themed wrap for the weekend.

But note that you cannot take the streetcar if you’re south of Union Station. Though Google Maps might show that as an option, it’s for the Main Street extension that doesn’t open for a few more weeks. If you are parked or staying south of Union Station, you can walk, take the bus or use a ride-hailing app.

What can I bring to Chappell Roan concerts?

There is a bag policy in effect for the shows, and organizers are encouraging fans to travel light to expedite entry into the venue.

Any bag between 6” by 2” by 9” and 12” by 6” by 12” must be clear and have a single compartment. Bags larger than these dimensions are not permitted, and any bag smaller does not need to be clear, according to Roan’s website.

There are other restrictions on what you can and can’t bring. Twenty-ounce sealed or empty water bottles, posters and mobility aids are allowed, but chairs, blankets and strollers are not.

The main entrance to the venue will be to the southwest of the memorial, where Kessler Road and Memorial Drive meet. There will be ticket checkpoints along both of those roads as fans make their way up the hill.

Rideshare dropoff will be on Grand Boulevard. There will be parking for attendees with disabilities in a parking lot to the south of the venue, along Wyandotte Street. The accessible entrance will be just across the road from that, at the far southern point of the venue.

What is Chappell Roan’s set list?

The singer is expected to keep the same set list she used at the first stops on the tour in the New York area, including 16 of her own songs and one cover, “Barracuda” by Heart.

What’s the weather in KC for Chappell Roan’s concert?

It’s been a warm start to fall in Kansas City leading up to the show, and that will continue through the weekend before a colder front moves in next week.

It’s forecast to be sunny Friday and Saturday, with temperatures between 66 and 90 degrees. Around showtime, Accuweather predicts 87 degrees Friday and 82 on Saturday.

Where is Chappell Roan from? What are her ties to KC and Missouri?

The pop star hails from Willard, Missouri, and has shown her pride for her hometown roots by filming the “H-O-T-T-O-G-O” music video in Springfield and naming her 2024 album “The Rise and Fall of the Midwest Princess.”

Roan also has some Kansas City connections that are crucial to her performance and persona — most notably that she credits Hamburger Mary’s in KC with initially introducing her to drag. And now a mural outside that same bar depicts Roan in her music video for “The Subway.”

See that and plenty more Roan-approved sites on our Chappell fan’s tour guide to Kansas City.
