If your scheduled trash pickup day is in the next few days, you’re going to be holding onto it for a bit.
The City of Kansas City announced that trash and recycling pickup is suspended for Thursday and Friday, as the city will have those drivers prepare the roads for the incoming snow and icy roads.
If your scheduled trash day falls on Thursday or Friday, you’ll be able to place four bags out next week, along with unlimited curbside recycling.
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, is also delaying trash pickup for a day this week. If your scheduled day is Thursday in KCK, yours will be picked up Friday and if it’s on Friday, it’ll be picked up Saturday.
“Although we do not anticipate additional delays this week, residents should keep their eyes on the Unified Government’s website, Facebook, and Nextdoor for updates,” Dave Reno, Public Works’ community engagement officer, said in a statement.
Trash pickup will also be delayed for a day on Monday, as that’s President’s Day. So if your scheduled trash day is Monday, you’ll put out your bags and recycling on Tuesday.
Check if your area is also delaying or canceling trash pickup for the impending weather:
A reminder that many areas surrounding Kansas City use private trash collection, so it’s different businesses that pick up the trash, not the government. You can search your address to see if the weather will disrupt your trash service on most private collectors’ sites.
