Two dead after argument erupts into gunfire at south Kansas City home
Update: Police on Friday identified the victims as 36-year-old Adriane D. Stanley and 35-year-old Demetrius Davis.
A man and woman are dead after an argument erupted into gunfire Wednesday in the Fairlane neighborhood of south Kansas City, a police spokesman said.
Officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 9600 block of Freemont Avenue, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino with the Kansas City Police Department.
Once officers arrived, they were directed to the driveway of a home in the neighborhood where they found a man and a woman who had been shot, DiMartino said.
While initiating life-saving measures, officers requested that emergency medical services respond. The medical crew pronounced both of the victims dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an argument involving several people escalated into a physical altercation. DiMartino said gunshots were fired, striking the victims.
The killings are being investigated as a homicide, DiMartino said. No one was in custody, and no suspect information was released.
Detectives and crime scene investigators collected evidence and searched the area for witnesses and surveillance video.
