Watch the footrace between Chiefs receivers Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman
Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill retained his crown on Saturday.
Hill had a footrace with teammate Mecole Hardman at the Chiefs’ practice facility, and the man nicknamed “The Cheetah” prevailed.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he’d prefer to see the racing on game day.
“I’m going to try and keep them from racing anymore,” Mahomes said Sunday. “I’d rather them just run down the sideline during a game.”
Last month, Hardman had issued the challenge after Hill defeated Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens in a race.
Hardman had reason to believe he could win. A year ago, Next Gen Stats showed he reached 23.24 mph during a game. Meanwhile, Hill’s top recorded speed was 22.81 last season.
“Obviously both of those guys are super fast,” Mahomes said. “I’m just lucky to have both of them (on the Chiefs).”
The two Chiefs receivers had teased their competition on Twitter.
That post, as you can see, got the requisite 15,000 likes, but before the video was posted after the two gave conflicting answers as to who had won.
And here’s the race, which Hill won:
There’s no shame in losing to the fastest man in the NFL.
