Buses will temporarily replace KC Streetcar services Wednesday as the city celebrates the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, the authority announced in a news release.

Starting at 6 a.m., two RideKC buses will replace streetcar services along Main Street with the following stops:

  • North Loop at 7th and Main
  • Library at 9th and Main
  • Metro Center at 12th and Main
  • Kauffman Center at 16th and Main
  • Crossroads at 19th and Main

Stops at Union Station, City Market, River Market North and River Market West will be closed until they’re deemed safe to reopen after the parade.

“The KC Streetcar congratulates the Kansas City Chiefs on their World Championship,” said Tom Gerend, executive director, KC Streetcar Authority, in a news release. “We look forward to helping make Wednesday’s parade and celebration as successful and safe as it possibly can be.”

The festivities kick off with a parade starting at noon at Grand Boulevard and Sixth Street. It’ll travel south on Grand until it reaches Pershing Road, when the parade will turn right and head toward Union Station.

A victory rally will start at Union Station at 1:45 p.m., and the National WWI Museum and Memorial will host viewing opportunities on its north lawn.

Forecasts ahead of the parade show it should be a cool, dry day with a mild breeze.

“Wednesday is looking like a great day for a parade,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Pamela Pietrycha.

Public alcohol consumption is banned at the event, which officials said is family friendly. Attendees were encouraged to travel light and not carry any bags or backpacks.
