‘Great day for a parade.’ Forecast shows mild weather for Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration
Fans looking to celebrate the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Victory in Kansas City can expect mild weather perfect for a parade on Wednesday, meteorologists said.
In the morning, fans can expect temperatures in the mid-30s that will gradually increase into the mid-40s when the parade kicks off at noon in downtown Kansas City, according to Pamela Pietrycha, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Kansas City.
“Wednesday is looking like a great day for a parade,” she said.
The parade will last around 90 minutes and be followed by an hour-long rally starting around 1:45 p.m. outside Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial’s north lawn.
“We will cheer on the World Champion Kansas City Chiefs this Wednesday as our victory parade goes through downtown Kansas City,” said Mayor Quinton Lucas in a news release. “I look forward to seeing Kansas Citians show our country, and the world, why Kansas City is a sports town like nowhere else.”
Parade goers should expect the morning to start off chilly, with mild winds that should drop off by the afternoon. As the day goes on, Accuweather meteorologist Tom Klines said temperatures could reach the 50s.
Fans should consider wearing layers, like their favorite Chiefs hat and jackets, to stay warm throughout the day.
Any rain and snow expected Wednesday won’t start until the evening and will last into early Thursday.
Officials said public alcohol consumption is banned at event, which they said is family friendly. Attendees were encouraged to travel light and not carry any bags or backpacks.
