Man faces murder charge in shooting of KCK woman days before her 21st birthday
A Kansas City, Kansas, man is facing a first-degree murder charge following the death of a 20-year-old woman Saturday.
Kevin Calamaco-Morales faces one count each of intentional and premeditated first-degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm, according to a Wyandotte County court document.
Kansas City, Kansas, police officers were called to the 700 block of North 11th Street around 4:30 a.m. Saturday on reports of a shooting, according to a prior press release from KCKPD.
After officers arrived, they found Ana Juarez, 20, outside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound..
Juarez was transported to an area hospital where she died as a result of her injuries, police said. Her 21st birthday would have been on Nov. 4.
Juarez’s death is the 19th homicide of 2025 in Kansas City, Kansas, compared to 21 at this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.
Calamaco-Morales is set to appear for an unspecified court hearing on Nov. 18, according to a Wyandotte County court document. He is being held in the Wyandotte County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond, according to the jail’s inmate listing.
