New photo released of suspect car in killing of 4-year-old boy in Kansas City

Police continue to ask for the public’s help in locating any suspects in the death of a 4-year-old who was shot while he slept in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Police Department on Monday released a new photo of a suspect vehicle in the case.

Police previously released surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle, but have not yet made an arrest. The new photo shows a closer view of the dark-colored car.

LeGend Taliferro was shot as he slept about 2:30 a.m. June 29 at the Citadel Apartments in the 1600 block of Bushman Road. He later died.

Detectives have said they think the apartment was targeted.

Someone in the city knows who drives that vehicle, Deputy Chief Karl Oakman said July 1 as city officials gathered near the apartment, urging anyone with information to step forward.

“Enough is enough,” he said at the time. “We will get you.”

Before a balloon release, Charron Powell, the mother of LeGend M. Taliferro, spoke to the crowd Wednesday at the bandstand in Swope Park. Taliferro, 4, was Kansas City’s youngest homicide victim this year.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the Kansas City Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

Information leading to an arrest could be eligible for a $25,000 cash reward.

Legend’s death was the city’s 94th homcide of the year.
