Update: Police identified the deceased as Derrick Rhodes, 32, and Aminah Johnson, 29.

Two people died in a shooting in the Robandee South neighborhood Monday afternoon, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

KCPD officers responded to the 9800 block of Marsh Avenue around 2 p.m., according to Capt. Jake Becchina, a KCPD spokesperson. Officers discovered a man and a woman wounded and unresponsive in front of a home.

Both shooting victims were transported to a local hospital, where they died later Monday afternoon, according to Becchina.

Shortly after the shooting, a man was taken into custody. As of Monday evening, the man was the only suspect in the shooting, according to Becchina.

Detectives believe that the victims and suspect knew each other, and that the shooting resulted from an argument among multiple people at the home, Becchina said.

The double shooting represents the 37th and 38th homicides reported in Kansas City this year, according to data collected by The Star, which includes police shootings. At this time last year, 33 homicides had been reported in the city.
