Memorial Day Weekend around Kansas City

Whether you’re staying in town or going away for the holiday weekend, here are some stories we hope help you ring in the unofficial first weekend of summer.

The return of Celebration at the Station with the Kansas City Symphony will highlight a full slate of Memorial Day Weekend activities at Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Celebration at the Station, which was canceled the past two years because of the pandemic, typically draws about 50,000 people. The free concert and fireworks display will begin at 7 p.m. May 29. More information at kcsymphony.org.

The National WWI Museum’s free activities May 27-30 will include the Traveling Vietnam Wall, the Flags of Forgotten Soldiers Display and a Vintage Military Vehicle Display, with a public ceremony at 10 a.m. May 30.

Museum admission will be half-price, or $5-$9, all weekend and will be free for veterans and active-duty military personnel. More information at theworldwar.org.
