More about KC’s Jason Sudeikis and ‘Ted Lasso’

Jason Sudeikis, who grew up in Overland Park, created and stars in the acclaimed Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso.”

Expand All

Jason Sudeikis and his hit show, “Ted Lasso,” won seven Emmy Awards last month. The final episode of season two aired to critical acclaim last week. And Sudeikis is set to host “Saturday Night Live” Oct. 23. What’s next?

He’ll return to his hometown of Kansas City — at least virtually — for the fifth annual Thundergong! with Jason Sudeikis & Friends, which will be online only for the second year in a row because of the pandemic. The music and comedy event benefiting the Steps of Faith Foundation will start at 7 p.m. Nov. 20. Audiences can watch only via livestream. The good news: It’s free.

The 2020 show, featuring such stars as Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Brandi Carlile and Wynonna Judd, raised nearly $400,000 for the foundation assisting amputees. Sudeikis’ longtime friend Billy Brimblecom Jr., who lost his left leg to cancer, is the foundation’s executive director.

To RSVP for the Nov. 20 livestream feed or to contribute, go to thundergong.org.

Jason Sudeikis, seen here in shaggier times, will bring back Thundergong!, a benefit for the Steps of Faith Foundation, Nov. 20 at the Uptown Theater as a virtual event.
