Police release the name of man fatally shot in south Kansas City

A 22-year-old man who police say was fatally shot Tuesday at a Phillips 66 convenience store in south Kansas City has been identified as Antonio Williams Jr.

Another person was seriously wounded in the incident reported about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. Officers responding to the call found a wrecked vehicle in the 9600 block of Drury Avenue. Inside the car were Williams and another shooting victim.

Both were rushed to a hospital, where Williams died. The other victim was listed in serious condition.

The shooting may have happened at the Phillips 66 at Bannister Road and Drury Avenue. A witness told police that a silver vehicle sped away moments after the shooting.

On Tuesday, police released a photo of a person and a car and asked anyone with information about them to call the Kansas City Police Department Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or call 816-474-TIPS (8477).
