Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes gave special message to son, Bronze, on national TV
The Chiefs on Monday played their first home game in four weeks, thanks to a bye week and a pair of road contests.
That last game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium was also on “Monday Night Football,” and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a pregame message for 3-year-old daughter Sterling that night.
Mahomes concluded an ESPN interview ahead of the Chiefs-Saints game by telling Sterling to go to bed.
Before the Chiefs’ game against the Buccaneers on Monday, Mahomes again was interviewed on ESPN and he addressed his other child: 1-year-old son, Bronze.
“I’ll say goodnight to Bronze this time,” Mahomes said, “and I’ll try to score you a touchdown.”
Alas, dear ol’ dad didn’t get that touchdown, but he still did his son proud by helping the Chiefs to a 30-24 overtime victory after being injured. It looked like Mahomes was seriously hurt after he needed help to leave the field in the fourth quarter.
Instead, Mahomes didn’t miss a snap and he led a pair of touchdown drives after the injury. Fans were amazed and Bronze undoubtedly thinks his dad is the best in the world.
The good news for Bronze is the Chiefs’ next game is at noon on Sunday when the Broncos visit Arrowhead Stadium. So he will be able to watch his father play in person and not worry about a message about bedtime — until after the game.
